I'm a big fan of trades so if you see something you're interested in on my ever-changing "For Trade" list, feel free to send me an offer or a geekmail. I'll do my best to respond promptly and hopefully we can work something out!I've started writing mini-reviews of recent games I've played in the comments section of each game entry. Check them out HERE to get my thoughts on a variety of games--both good and bad--and consider adding me as a GeekBuddy!
I was introduced to The Settlers of Catan
in 2010 as a junior in college and received my very own copy of the game later that year for my 21st birthday. From there I progressed to Race for the Galaxy
and I've been hooked ever since, rarely turning down gaming opportunities
As an engineer, I enjoy the problem-solving challenge that many games provide and I love trying new games that require different tactics and strategies. My favorite games are medium weight strategy games with minimal amounts of luck/randomness like Agricola and La Granja
and I generally love anything involving worker placement (Keyflower
, etc). I find myself drawn to games with "real-world" themes (farming, mining, city/castle-building, etc) and generally don't care for many of the popular tropes (fantasy, sci-fi, space exploration, zombies, etc).
I have an awesome wife who is also a gamer (though not quite as addicted as me!) and board games are a fun hobby we can enjoy together
While I constantly find new ideas popping into my head, board game design has proven easier said than done... My first game design, Kegonsa, now has its own entry here on BGG!
Check out the free Print & Play and let me know what you think!
Besides board games, I really like spending time outdoors (hiking, fishing, playing various sports) and I particularly enjoy long distance runningNotes: recorded plays reflect all games played in person since joining BGG on 1/25/12 (standard deck playing card games not included); all games rated according to BGG's suggested scaleTop 10

Ratings determined as follows:
R = (X sub n)^((11-n)/10) + ...
R = designer rating
X = rating of game n
n = 1-10 (where 1 corresponds to a designer's highest rated game and 10 corresponds to their 10th-highest rated game)
Note that designer ratings are based on exactly
their top 10 games that I have played. Any designers with less than 10 games played had dummy ratings of '5' assigned to the remaining games. Designers must have a minimum of two played games to be eligible for consideration.
