I love the german/euro style games. Just playing them is great fun in a social setting with others.
Since I started this hobby my collection has grown significantly. For the most part I like games with different mechanics and indulgent themes, that one can dive into during play, even if it's just tacked on.
Don't like to play war games or science fiction games. I just can't get into them, as they are so abstract. I'd rather play an abstract game, that doesn't have sci-fi or war theme on it, like Yinsh or Rosenkönig.
I love games that have a lot of theme that you can indulge yourself into. I like to feel, that what I'm playing resembles how things have been done in history or just daily life of days passed. Makes you want to close your eyes and just visualize those days. Examples of such for me are:
- Princes of Florence
and there's plenty more.
Any chance I get to play, I try to take advantage of it. Got to play the whole collection! That is, if it's not going to grow more on me...
...darn it, it's been 6 years and the collection has grown on me...
