Dear Santa Grogs:
I realized I never formally wrote you a letter. So here it is!
I started out as a wargamer, with the Commands and Colors and Memoir '44 Series. Then I discovered Ambush! (which I have owned 3 separate times) and all was lost. I really enjoy the tactical, thinking element of wargames.
My favorite time period is definitely WWII-Modern, and I am 87.541% more likely to purchase a game if it has a solo component, or can easily be played solo.
All of the games on my wishlist that are rated as a '5' are for the Wargame Secret Santa; the rest for for the BGG Secret Santa.
I will do my best to comment on the games. Also, lightly used games are perfectly acceptable, but they must come from a smoke free and cat free environment. I have some health problems that would render any games with smoke or cat dander unplayable.
Thank you!!Secret Santa!
I am really excited to see what you have planned for me. I will be commenting on my wishlist soon and feel free to write me if you need more info! As you can see above, everything on my wishlist that is rated 1-4 is for the BoardGameGeek Secret Santa; the 5s are for the Wargame Secret Santa.
I normally game with anywhere from 1-5 people. Even more so, 75% of the time it's usually just my wife and I. She enjoys lighter Euros like Stone Age, Carcassonne, Mice and Mystics, and Kingsburg. We really like co-op games, especially because I can play them solo. That is a really big deal to me; if a game is soloable, I am probably 10x more likely to play it.
Lately, I have been getting my RPG group into gaming; we RPG Pathfinder, DnD 3.5 and 5e, and Star Wars Edge of the Empire (which I DM), but we have also started to work in games like Betrayal at House on the Hill, Sherrif of Nottingham, and Defenders of the Realm.
My top 3 mechanics are probably worker placement, tile laying, and engine building (if that counts). I will say that I am not a fan of hidden role games/deduction games such as Resistance, Coup, or 2 Rooms and a Boom.
My wife tolerates my gaming, but it's only because I tolerate her baking (and I mean that as, she bakes as a hobby
We also have a Mini Schnauzer puppy named Apollo, after Lee Adama of Battlestar Galactica fame.
I play tenor saxophone, work as a Help Desk Team Lead for a major University, and love NCAA Basketball. I am also currently working on my Master's in Technology Management from Georgetown University, remotely.
My top 10 are my favorite games of all time, and my Hot 10 are the current games in my collection I really, really want to play.
