My name is Justin Egan. I am a Consulting Gamer. Never heard of a Consulting Gamer? I'm not surprised, I invented the job.
A Consulting Gamer answers the question, "What should we play?" for organizations and individuals with a mix of in-depth gaming knowledge and personal experience. I also specialize in matching individuals up to games that will be fun for them to play as well as teaching said individuals how to play those games.
See, it occurred to me some time ago that the gaming hobby is connected to a lot of negative stigma and jargon that ultimately prevents 'non-gamers' from becoming 'gamers' I wish to make it my profession to be be the gaming hobby's ambassador.
Why? Gaming teaches us things like no other medium can. Skills like resource management, deductive reasoning, network building, etc. can and are taught through reading and exercises, but nothing beats a hands on model to demonstrate use of these skills.
Additionally, gaming brings people together. I can't eve hope to count how many new friends I've made or how many relationships forged through gaming events I've held. I've even had families come to me to help them find the right game for them and help them plan regular family game nights.
So what lies ahead? I have not idea, but whatever it is, I hope I can play too.
