I played a lot of RPGs and boardgames in my youth, then got away from the hobby for a while. In college I spent a fair amount of time playing card games. One day I stumbled upon BGG, and now I've caught the gamer bug again.
I enjoy most games. They can be fun for different sorts of reasons. Sometimes, it is for challenging yourself to strategize and outthink my opponents. Sometimes, I just enjoy having a good laugh with others and/or being silly.
About my ratings, for those who are curious: In general, I start out rating games as a seven. It's hard for me to judge a game based on one play, because so many other factors can affect my experience. After repeated plays, I may feel comfortable enough in my mind about separating the experience the game generates from any independent environmental factors to tweak the rating that I have given to it (that is, whenever I get around to actually rerating my games).
