I'm born in 1972 in Modena (Italy) ... since I was a child I really enjoyed spending time making games to play with my friends at school (sometimes also during the lessons!). When I was 16 I joined the club TreEmme (www.treemme.org
), the biggest game club in Italy (founded in 1980!). I started my game career as a RPG player first, than as a Game Master for several years. In club TreEmme I also started playing wargames, Battletech and most of the old GW and AH games. It was a very nice experience because every week there was several games to learn and play! During a working period in Denmark I met Mik Svellov
at the Viking Con and started to play German Games (in 1999 almost no one in Italy knew about these games) ... and from that moment I tried to "import" and play these games with as many people as possible in Italy!
I'm been involved in the www.boardgamenews.com
project since his starting, writing articles and interviews about Italian game scene and, after that, in opinionatedgamers.com
where I also conducing a series of interviews to game designers.
In 2006 I'm been nominated member of the International Gamers Awards
committee (for the General Strategy section).
I'm been involved in the organization of ModCon www.modcon.it
(the biggest game convention in Italy that took place the last week of September in Modena) from 1998; from 2000 I 'm the one that takes care of the whole Boardgames area and helped its exponential growth. From 2006 I was in charge of the whole program of the event. I'm been the Responsable of the Program of the first (2008) and second (2010) edition of PLAY: the Game Festival www.play-modena.it
, the natural evolution of ModCon and from 2011 edition I'm the Artistic Director of the Festival.
I was involved (administrating, writing reviews, moderating forums) in the La Tana dei Goblin
), started in May 2003 which is now the biggest games web site and community in Italy. Now I play games two times every week at club TreEmme and also at home with my wife and my kids.
I'm always thinking about designing my own good games, but there are so many nice games to play that I spend most of my free time playing and reading rules! I was working as a Theoretical Chemist in the Department of Chemistry (Modena) from 1998 and from 2004 I'm also working in the IT group of the University, programming and administrating the computer network. I'm married to Serena since 2000 and we have a daughter (Caterina, 2001) that started her game career very early by eating some pieces (the largest and most colorful ones) of her father's games and a son, Francesco (2006). I also like to play videogames sometimes and he I played rugby for 17 years until my right shoulder decided that was the moment to stop!
From 2010 I work as games consultant
for games companies including LEGO Italia (concerning the LEGO Games series). I also teach games in schools and to teachers.
I have my own blog about games.
I live in Modena, Italy.
