Recently (June 2002) found a group of people that like boardgames. It's good to be back.
I'm an omnivore gamer. If I were pinned down and forced to tell you what I don't like, I don't like not having any decisions to make, I don't like games that rely on their flavor text to be fun. I don't like games that wear out their welcome before they are done.
I greatly appreciate rules efficiency, but am more interested in consistency. If you can get a good story out of the playing of the game, that is a strong bonus, but my friends and I even enjoy dissecting our plays of abstracts, so don't get too caught up in the definition of "story".
Oh, and publishers pay way too little attention to the art as a functional component of the design.
