I live in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, a suburb of Vancouver, Canada.
That's the Pacific Northwest for my U.S. geek buddies.
I've been gaming since I was a kid and own about 180 games. I was six-years-old when someone showed me Monopoly. Talk about a watershed moment. I was blown away. I'd never played a board game before and I was smitten.
But my family was poor and we couldn't afford to blow real money on stupid kids' games ... so over the next six months, I made one....all the cards, all the money, the board, everything.
I still do that from time to time. I've just rebuilt my 1979 edition of Magic Realm using Karim Chakroun's awesome graphics uploaded here to the Geek. It took me months to do it, but it was worth it.
I played a lot of games in the 70's and 80's including Cosmic Encounter, Magic Realm, Quirks, Wizards's Quest etc, but got busy with life and quit buying new games sometime in the 1990's. (I think Magic the Gathering did me in).
Fast forward to 2006 when I discovered the Geek. I'd started gaming again couple of years earlier and wasn't really participating or logging my plays. I've only just started (Dec 2010).
I'm an amateur astronomer, photographer, web writer, professional journalist and a big science fiction and fantasy fan.
My kids are gamers too. But my most loyal game partner is my wife. She has played EVERY game in my collection...even the war games. I was a Dungeons and Dragons DM when I was younger and my children learned roleplay at an early age. Both kids are older now, but our game nights are still legendary!
I added a Flag counter today (Oct 25, 2011) just for the hell of it.
My Top Ten list are my favorite games more or less in order. And My Hot Ten are the games I'm currently interested in acquiring.
These are the games I've played most recently:
