A Word to Traders: I pay close attention to trying to ensure equal value. However, don't hesitate to offer an unbalanced trade with different suggestions on how to make it work. I'm not opposed to considering games not on my wish-want list, a monetary note slipped inside the box, or even a little geek-gold to make a trade work... The Journey
I started out gaming the traditional way, Monopoly, Risk, Clue, etc. Then a friend introduced me to a game him and his uncle played called Axis and Allies when I was about 13 years old or so. I was in awe and always would bring up A&A if a discussion touched in boardgames. For the next 10 years however, I thought A&A was as good as it got even though I maybe only played it once or twice in that span.
I never really expanded beyond that until Settlers of Catan was introduced some 10 years after A&A. I was in love; but again, I thought that was as good as it got-- with its quick, interactive, and most of all innovative play. I'd continue on the path of this new love, hand in hand for another couple years believing once again, I'd discovered the top of the mountain.
Then I found this website back in the fall of 2006 after some rumblings of other games: Princes of Florence and Blokus. Those came first, then Puerto Rico and T&E almost by obligation, later diving deeper in the ranks and finally discovering the inevitable: There is no end.The Present
As it stands now, I play games whenever someone wants to play with me. Recently that means I play way more lighter, quicker games due to a lack of others interest in something meatier. This isn't my first choice, but I'm generally happy just playing and interacting with others.
My favorite games are those that include an element of luck but with the mechanics that allow each player to adapt and advance. This creates a game of reacting to the other players as well as a game of reacting and adapting your own hand in order to best serve your situation. Where these two elements come together is where I find gaming bliss. My NEW Hot 10
These represent the games I'd play currently given my choice. This could be because I generally like the game (and don't get to play it enough) or just want to get to know it better.
My Hot 10 is now the top ten games that I own and have never played. These are ordered based on how bad I'd like to get them to the table.A Few Games I've Played Recently
