My Avatar is a detail from Hayo Miyazaki's cover illustration of G.K. Chesterton's Napoleon of Notting Hill
- the original 1984
distopian novel that inspired Orwell's.
I've been gaming for about as long as I can remember, although as a child my brother and I would create miniatures games using checkerboards and homebrew rules.
Nowadays, Heroscape tops my miniature gaming (After briefly and passionately playing Heroclix for a while). CCGs have given way to Race for the Galaxy, and my gaming group (consisting chiefly of my wife and those of my 5 children old enough to play any given game) are exploring and finding more games to add to our cache.
Settlers, Carcassonne, Heroscape, and Race for the Galaxy currently seem to be our favorites.
I am a former game store manager (read about my exploits here
) as well as a handful of other trades, and currently earn a living writing and publishing books, such as The Way of the Christian Samurai
and The Inconvenient Adventures of Uncle Chestnut
. I also make t-shirts.

In February 2010, I published my first 2 games, Uncle Chestnut's Card Gype
and Uncle Chestnut's Table Gype
, based on a concept of G.K. Chesterton
and H.G. Wells
