Stumbled across this site looking for some information on 'Talisman' and was hooked - it's led to an explosion of buying board and, thankfully, much extra time with friends as we discover new games.
Ironically I've only played Talisman once since
Since then I've become a boardgame pusher - I've brought games into work and converted friends to boardgaming.
We find it a good social evening, allowing those who have kids to still see everyone without having to schedule babysitters or one stay home.
When I'm not gaming, I'm either reading, books and comics (another expensive habit); watching movies (cinema or dvd); or sport, be it playing or watching [ice] hockey, or watching on tv.
Thankfully my wife is equally hooked on most of my hobbies and provides a competitive and generally willing gaming partner
But she won't take the step of signing up on the Geek
My top ten are my favourite games, my hot ten the games I've not played or little played that I'm most looking forward to playing (trying to get onto the table!), though I don't update the list frequently enough.
I'm pretty much an omni gamer, happy to play most as long as the experience and company are fun. I prefer games to have a bit of theme (probably goes back to my days of RPGs) but I'll go along with most types of games. I'd like to play more wargames but lack opponents (and time)
I'm an occasional member of the Horsham Boardgame Club, attending when work permits.
