I've been gaming way back since the early '70's when I received my first board game as a christmas present. Yes - 'On the Buses' is still with me to this day and comes out occasionally as a fun warm-up to our gaming sessions.
5-6 of us regularly meet once a month at each other's houses for our 'Board Meetings'. We are all quite lucky to have such understanding partners as these sessions last, usually, until 4a.m. As the games nights draw on they begin (after 'On the Buses') with the more serious games, such as A Game of Thrones, mainly due to our brain cells still being active as the alcohol is just kicking in
We usually finish up on the 'lighter' titles such as Zombies or Cash 'n Guns. What our respective neighbours think as they hear cries of 'Kill it' or 'Drop the gun mother****** !!' I really don't know but suffice to say none of them ever trouble us ( I wonder why ?)
Recently we've gone all retro and had a few bashes at Talisman (3rd edition), Space Hulk, Judge Dredd and even Battle Cars. We have decided to set up a Blood Bowl league again just like we did in the old days.
I also play Flames of War the WWII wargame and have been furiously painting my Wehrmacht since October 2008. Had 4 games now against the Red Scourge ( 2-2 if you're interested).
All-in-all I love my gaming be it D&D, wargaming or board-gaming. As we tell our other halves when they mockingly take the mick;
"It beats blowing £60 on a night out with the lads and eyeing up the local talent, doesn't it ?"
Always works a treat that one.
