Work in IT and currently a small scale hobby farmer, with pigs, sheep, chickens and ducks. Was a computer game junky for a very long time. Through this time, bought various board games which was a hit and miss affair.
Then visited our local board game group in Lincoln and got introduced to Stone Age, my first euro game and got introduced to BGG and haven't looked back.
Over the last year or two of board gaming, having played a variety of games, its those games that evoke social interaction , good story , with great replayability that we tend to enjoy the most (damn you TIME stories for breaking that rule !)
Which generally means, i can watch as many reviews and rule explanations as there can be and still be pleasantly surprised by a game.
Things i like in games so far;
Social deduction games with objects to solve, which means i like cs files, but can mean a particular game is hit or miss.
Role selection games, with workers with variable abilities such as manhattan project, empires:age of discovery, puerto rico.
Card games with multiple abilities/uses such as race for the galaxy or game of thrones lcg.
