My Geek Biography
It all started for me with Warlock of Firetop Mountain, which I ordered through a primary school book program as a kid. Our books used to be waiting for us on our desks in the morning. Very socially enlightened. I read Starblazer as a boy, and 2000AD; I had a drawing published in prog #372 for which I got a £5 postal order, I was very proud! "The Beast with Five Fingers"(1946) was the first film to frighten me as a young boy so that I had to ask if I could sleep in my brother's room that night, and then soon after we were together both 'double-whammied' by a bootleg copy of the "Evil Dead" premiered by an ungodly elder god brother. Gaming back then included bouts of Starfleet Battles, Titan, Talisman, Dungeon Quest, Chess, Monopoly and, of course, (Castle!) Risk.
I got Cosmic Encounters (AH) sometime ago and had a blast with that. I guess that it reignited my interest in boardgames.
I found BBG completely by accident, and consequently bought many games. Battlelore was the first game I preordered and anticipated for months in advance. My taste in games is predominately for A-Tee but I love to play a good Euro too, although nothing too dry or mathy, I also like hypercool abstracts and wargames like Tide of Iron.
Eventually I was inspired to search out a couple of gaming groups in London that are really good and I've made some friends along the way.
