Congratulations on your wonderful year. I've enjoyed the bits I've seen in beautiful Bloomington. Thank you for what you do and I hope 2012 finds you enjoying many more great games. Hoopla!
Thanks Marco for all your great work this year. As a non-wargamer in 2010 you have helped me make all the right choices with entry level games as I expanded my gaming horizon this past year.
No Retreat and Sekigahara were among my favorite games of the year. As was "the non wargame" AFAoS. Which was my favorite 2011 game.
I agree Marco, your work has been outstanding & I can't thank you enough, and it was a great idea to do a top 10 at the end of the year. A bit surprised to not see White Star Rising in there, so I have thought of getting that one based on your review, but not about Napoleon Field Commander, as it was clear from your review you are ecstatic about that game. Liked your overview of the year, and I echo your sentiments that next year is as good or greater for you. I don't think you ever need to worry about lack of viewers, as you are one of the top boardgame reviewers out there Happy New Year
A bit surprised to not see White Star Rising in there
me too! I have really enjoyed that game a lot, and I do think it's excellent, but when I started writing down the titles that were in the run to be included in this video, it turned out that there were just so many other excellent titles that had come out this year. Still WSR is an absolutely great game!!
Thanks for a year of informative and enlightening reviews. Also, thank you for the coupon code for ecleticzeal, I was able to snag a copy of Eclipse with a discount and free shipping, sweet! Thanks again. My $0.02
Brilliant, as usual! Going to have to check out Field Commander: Napoleon.
Happy New Year. Looking forward to more of your reviews.
Incidently, are you thinking about doing a video of the games that you are most eagerly anticipating in the coming year 2012? For myself, I'd be interested to know what's on your radar.
Marco, you really spark one's imagination and generate a craving for the gaming experiences you talk about. Thank you so much for that.
I'm going to have to try at least your top four!
I'm glad you had such a great year. I hope 2012 will be just as rewarding, if not more. But, please, no more games that top these for a while! I'll never be able to catch up!
Nice choices. My top three would probably be 1) Band of Brothers 2) No Retreat 3) Sekigahara, but we're really quibbling here. All three are superlative designs.
Just an awesome top 10. Over the year you have introduced me to some great games. I am happy to say that 5 of your top 10 are also some of my favorites this year.
-No Retreat! The Russian Front: Own it and enjoy it. I just recently printed off the solo rules to give that a whirl.
-Field Commander: Napoleon: Superb components, enthralling gameplay. It was my first venture in the 'Field Commander' series. I went on to pick up Field Commander: Alexander because of it (and reassurance from your video review).
-Lost Battles: With all of the hype that surrounded this game, I really couldn't pass it up. It deserves its place on your list.
-Dragon Rage: I own the original fold out map/chits version, but I want the new edition BADLY (maybe not bad enough to warrant the current price + shipping, but we'll see.).
-Sergeants Miniatures Game: I don't own any of this, yet, but I want to dive in pretty badly. Your review after including the expansion pushes me further in that direction.
All in all, I liked seeing my own views justified in your top ten! Thanks, Marco.
