Mallorca (or Finca) is a light fruit-collecting game that revolves around a windmill and has some worker placement action.

Mallorca/Finca is not as good as Carcassonne, Settlers of Catan or Ticket to Ride -series but still it is a good game that deserves it's "adult game of the year 2010" -award that it got here in Finland.

I enjoy it because it's fast to play (30-45 min) and is very pretty to look at. The wooden fruit pieces are especially good. The game board is also pretty but basically you could play the game without the map altogether.

The game is best with 2 players if you wish to have control over the game and really plan ahead what to do. With 3 and 4 players control is less tight and you will most likely be just reacting to current situations and so the game is less "players game" and more a "family game".

Anyway the game still works well even though the game mechanics seem to be the "point" of the game and it feels like the makers of the game have tried to "mask" the mechanics of the game with a nice theme.

As a bonus it doesn't even cost that much (at least here in Finland) so the price/weight -ratio is great. You get tons of chits and wooden pieces for your money.

Mallorca/Finca is a good choice if you need a fast, gorgeous and light 2-4 player game. Time will tell if it will remain fresh (eh) for a long time or not.
