I presume you guys don't what the "M" or "*" cards and I should split them across the two numbered decks (5 and 6 for instance). I am thinking of making the extra cards as follows:

6 -1 cards (split evenly across decks 5 and 6)
4 2x cards (split evenly across decks 5 and 6)
4 Null cards (split evenly across decks 5 and 6)

Does that sound right to you all???

All those cards should have '*' on them...I'm actually surprised the printable deck has an 'M' and I wonder if that was an oversight. The * makes them easier to remove from the deck after the game, as David mentioned. Nevermind, looks like y'all figured out the problem. Those weren't bless and curse cards!

Re card count...I think the original suggestion of 4 "-1" cards and 5 each of "2x" and "null" cards was good. As far as I know (haven't played the game very far), you're much more likely to get cursed and blessed (especially cursed) than need a "-1". It might even be worth considering doing 7 "null", 5 "2x", and 2 "-1"

Okay .... I think I've got this nailed down now. Thanks all! Can someone please take a quick look at these and make sure they are correct?

Edit - minor update to correct bleed area issues. New links shortly

Thanks David. I updated the OP to point people to the links above as well. Hopefully that makes things clear. Any other suggestions?

Anybody else received an email from PrinterStudio stating :

I'm writing to inform that due to slight cut deviation in real production, some black border in bleed area will appear a bit on final cards, please help confirm if it's ok to proceed? or you'll need to extend more artwork to cover bleed area instead of black border to avoid the problem, you can sign in your account-->click link below-->click "Modify" at top right -->"Edit" to upload new images-->email back to release production when you have changed it.

look forward to hearing from you soon.

The last time I used PrinterStudio for a deck of cards, it turned out that some wazzock had edited the project (as warned against at the top of this thread). I don't know why PS doesn't allow project creators to lock the files.

I'm going to hold off ordering until I know everything works. My last PS order was an expensive lesson.

Well that sux! I have a black background for the bleed area using their template. Trying to interpret their message tells me that their bleed area is imprecise and might result in the background (outside the bleed area) to show through.

Killing those old links.

We're in luck, however. There is a small amount of card spill outside the bleed on all sides. I will change my template to allow spill into the bleed and that should do the trick. For those that ordered and got the message, please cancel the order and wait for the update. I am making the changes right now.

Okay folks - I have updated the decks.

Attack Deck - Players 5&6
Attack Deck - Players 7&8

Anyone wondering what the differences are - it all has to do with the bleed area. I used the PS template that has an overlay showing the "Safe Area" "Cut Line" and "Bleed Area". Here's an image with these on. The Bleed area is the black around the outside of the card (anything outside the Blue line).

I believe the PS email message folks are receiving is because the bleed area is all black. If they happen to mis-cut the card, it will show black.

Below is how I changed all the cards this morning. This uses the entire card image from the PDF that Isaac posted. I cannot stretch this card without distorting it.

I left the overlay on so you can see how the card now "spills" out into the bleed area. This should be enough to cover any mis-cut cards. Unfortunately, the only way to verify is for someone to order. Normally that'd be me and I'd take the risk before anyone so I could determine any errors.

I feel like I should order these and make sure they don't have a crappy black border around them. If I order these, and they are correct with no border, will someone take them off my hands at the PS price?

Thoughts?

Edit: I am just adding that these cards are the exact cards that Isaac posted in the PDF (linked in OP). In order to "extend" the boarders further into the bleed area, I'd have to somehow extend the exact colors and patterns into this area. Given the complexity of the pattern, this is non-trivial and right now that's well beyond my PhotoShop skill set.

Edit2: Go here for full bleed cards. No black background.

I am not charging for this. Give me about 10 more minutes here - I have the solution - full bleed cards. I had to make them.

Re: Monster Attack Deck for Printerstudio
Okay everyone. I spent the entire morning working on this. I just didn't feel comfortable leaving those cards up with the black portion into the bleed area. If PS wasn't precise in the way they printed the cards, people would get some black background on the outside of the card. That's no good!

I won't go into details, but I was able to create full bleed cards via some Photoshop magic. These cards do NOT have a black background. The only thing there is the card. If PS is imprecise with the cut, no worries.

Notice the difference in this card now when compared to the ones in the previous update (side by side comparison). No Black! laugh

I updated every card to reflect these changes. The decks are below

Player 5&6 Deck

Player 7&8 Deck

You should all be good to go. Please post some pictures when you get them delivered!!

Sorry for any confusion this has caused.

I hope we can convince Isaac to release the v1.5 cards in full bleed format so I/we can avoid this in the future.

I see - thanks! Based on what I just posted, there isn't a need for a proof now that all the cards are full-bleed artwork. There's no "black background" and we're good to go.

Great work once again. I'm just waiting for PS to cancel my order before ordering again.

I will definitely post pictures when I receive the cards.

Thanks Remi! Printerstudio is a great company to work with. The fact that they sent out messages to people warning them of the black bleed area was more than they needed to do.

Lesson for me here - full bleed cards or nothing. FWIW the 2.0 monster cards for Myth were done the exact same way (black background). I never had anyone complain or get a PS warning message. BUT, full disclosure, I never printed them.

Still, this is the right way to do it.

I haven't received confirmation that my other order was canceled, but I'm an Aries through and through so I placed this order already for 5/6 and 7/8. I'll holler back with pics once they come in.

If you're planning on purchasing both packs, sign up for Printer Studio's mailing list and they'll send you a code for $5 off your next order of $15 or more. This cuts the price of the second deck in half.

Both decks, or all three? I haven't got GH yet, so I'm a bit confused about what the extra decks add, and which one(s) I should buy.
