- Have I just missed it and failed when searching for it? I've found all the secret history articles really interesting.

What are you talking about ?
I'm curious here

It's a bit like a more detailed designer diary. Tom has done them for some previous expansions:
Alien Artifacts: Secret History
The Secret History of RFTG: The Brink of War
I wondered if he had fine one for XI (though I appreciate that it's a reasonable amount of work for something which doesn't pay the bills).

Maybe the designer preview?
It reveals some stuff about the story of the setting.

Looking at an old computer, I have a file dated Mar 2, 2015 with about 4 pages of a half-completed XI secret history.
IIRC, I was writing that secret history in expectation of a summer release for XI that year, which then got pushed back several months due to the art team being busy with other projects.
So, I moved on to other projects myself and then was too busy to complete it when I wrote the Designer Preview while being on the road that September in London, Paris, and Barcelona. XI then came out before I had free time to complete its secret history.
XI's sequel, XCS, has been green-lit and we've tested some of its many parts, but it has been bumped back by 5 other RGG projects -- not all of them Race-related -- two of which (Roll: Rivalry and [SECRET]) are mostly done. I *hope* to return to XCS late this year. When I write the XCS secret history and designer preview sometime in 2019? 2020?, I'll try and finish the XI secret history then. Thanks for the reminder.

- I really love reading the secret histories and the designer previews. They’re so interesting! I look forward to potentially seeing XI’s in the future.

I would also be excited to read the XI secret history.
Hmm, new expansion?? And I thought XI was already complicated :-). Seriously, I have trouble introducing people to the base game. They're scared of the iconography.
