Runewars Battlecry

I got the Runewars minis all assembled this week

They were mostly very easy to assemble. Some of the skeleton archer arms were a bit hard to fit and some of the key parts were a little tight, but a bit of a shave with a hobby knife and it wasn't a problem anymore.

The Waiqar line preparing for the first turn.

First turn I did a big move with my Oathsworn Cavalry to get them right into his archers face turn one.

Kari Wraithseeker advances. Her surge ability was particularly awesome I felt and helped me take out the last wound or two on nearby units that would have otherwise remained a nuisance for me.

Heroes are very powerful in this game. The Waiqar hero beat the golem single handedly, although the battle could have went either way and the golem did put a beating into the hero.

The armies meeting in the middle.

His reanimates stuck between what is left of my spears and Kari.

I really liked my first play of this game and I really want to try it again with close to a full force and the full rules. It looks like two core sets gets both sides to about 180 pts, so that is what we are going to try out next time.

The double dials with actions and modifiers allows for a lot of design space and it gives some cool game play choices that often feel thematic for the unit.

I wish the expansions were out already

More Battlecry minis painted.

I spent a good chunk of this past week trying to get all my stuff ready for Adepticon.

These Grey Hunters were mostly complete back for Waaaghpaca, but I needed to finish all the details and such for Adepticon.

Finished off the Lovecraft himself this week.

And the reason I am late with my update this week is because I got the chance to play in a little Age of Sigmar tourney on Sunday.

It has been a few years since I have been able to attend Con of the North, but it was great to get back there and play some games with old friends. One of my favorite parts of CotN has always been the paint competition. It was a lot of fun to get to compete in it again and even more fun to pick up a couple of awards.

I got first place in the fantasy unit with one of my favorite units I have ever painted. The Savage Orc Boar Boys.

Also, I took first with my Wild West Exodus Outlaw Hired Hands in the historical category. I wasn't sure if I could really put them in the competition but liked them and brought them. The organizer thought the historical category was fine for them though, so I entered them and luckily one

I really like my boar boyz, so was hoping they might be able to snag best in show, but alas this really sweet dark angels knight that won the open category also took best in show.

This model won best single model.

The speed painting winner.
