This week I am shooting for a long, long shot. I hope to get Macao played. Mike is going to be joining us on Saturday and he can explain the game. The trick is having only three or four players and the time to play it.
Our previous playings have taken a while because of the confusion generated by the rules and cards. As I recall, some of the wording isn't really clear.
In a nutshell, the game is about acquiring resources and then using them to activate offices and buildings which you have acquired. The trick is the resources are determined by die rolls and the more of a resource you acquire the longer it will take before you can actually use them.
This is one of those game I enjoyed playing but would never try to explain to a completely new group. Hopefully, it will be liked by those who play it on Saturday and I can drag it out again soon and get it played again.
Last time's selection
This past week we had a small group and one of the three of us who didn't like the game the first time was there, so Around the World in 80 Days did not get played.
I'll try again in the near future with this one when there is a larger crowd, but it won't be for at least a couple of weeks. I am going to be out of town for a week so I won't be having a game to try getting played at the store. It's a fortuitously-timed trip since they likely wouldn't have had room for us because of another tournament.
The next post won't be until the end of the month or early August as we speed to the end of the year.
