Games, games and more games!
We started with just 4, so played Lost Valley, a game that Richard enjoyed on his last play. This time was the weirdest river I've ever seen - trying desperately to run off the board. This meant most of the map was off the river, and rapidly got explored, leading to a very sudden end.
After that we needed to pick up a player from the train station, so played a few fillers while waiting - TransAmerica, FITS and Fleet.
Then we were 5, and Richard suggested Niagara. This novel game is fun to play occasionally. This time the river was too fast for Richard, and he lost both boats on one turn. Meanwhile both Marion and I were collecting all of one gem type, and Sami was desperately trying to stop us both from winning - but Marion managed it in the end.
Marion then suggested Notre Dame as it works well with 5. I had an amazing game - spending the first third building up cubes and money, and killing rats, and then using the second half of the game to amass VPs using the VP region over and over again, with a park bonus too. My score was well ahead of everyone else's as a result!
Then we pulled out Dungeons & Dragons: Castle Ravenloft Board Game, a fairly new acquisition - I'm enjoying how different it feels from Ashardalon - and finished with Unnamed Object and The Resistance.
