This blog will serve to record the progress 4 of us are making in our attempt to a) play a great variety of games, b) play at least every game in our combined collections once, and c) improve our skill/understanding in/of the games we like the most (through playing them often of course). It's going to be a daunting task, seeing as one of us is a local distributer for many of the game publishers. I'll refer to him as our Dealer Then there's A, who's always liked games, but never realised how big the scope was outside of the "classics" (Monopoly, Pictionary, Uno, Clue(do), Trivial Pursuit etc.). Lastly, we have P, who played Risk as a teenager a couple of decades ago. So, A & P are very new to the hobby, whereas Dealer and myself have been rolling dice/drafting cards/placing meeples for about three years now.
The problem was that, while we had so many fun games to play, we often lacked people and opportunities to play them. Board games are not very big in the RS of A at the moment (although this is slowly changing) and finding a group of people who are committed to getting together regularly, as well as a venue for such a gathering can be a difficult prospect.
I've got hope that this group will last quite a while as we're all keenly interested in getting games to the table and having a blast. We try and play 3-4 games at a time, usually a combination of something we've played before (and want to improve upon) and something new. Afterwards we chat about the game and give it a quick rating (which I record for various nefarious purposes).
So that's what this blog will be about mainly. The games we play as a group and how we rate them individually.
