If you are not having fun, then you are missing the point.
My wife and I just returned from Margarita Island, Venezuela where we celebrated 10 years of marriage.
It took us a couple of days to get back into our regular routine with our kids, but now that we are back, the kids returned to their evening routine of asking to play a game. Friday night, we sat down for a game of Château Roquefort, or the "Cheesy Mouse Game" as it is affectionately known in our home. It was wonderful to see that Kyler (4) is finally playing the game with the goal of picking up cheese instead of just finding a way to throw other people's mice into the dungeon. Of course, throwing mice into the dungeon is still high on everyone's list of to-dos. We ignored Kyler's mice for a while, since in the past he had trouble finding cheese. But no longer. He knows exactly what he's doing now and found the prerequisite 4 pieces of cheese before anyone else! Dancia (6) and Daddy tied for last place with 2 pieces while Mom was in second with 3 pieces of cheese.
When we found out that we still had time to play another game, we pulled out You Robot, which is popular because we can quit at any point. Danica had to pose in a karate stance while Kyler acted as a traffic robot and Daddy was set to do an Native American shout.
Oh yeah... while on vacation, I packed several two player games. We didn't get around to all of them, but we did get a couple of games of Ingenious: Travel Edition as well as games of Schotten Totten, Hera and Zeus, Jambo and San Juan.
