Every homo sapiens needs an outbuilding within the curtelage of their property
Welcome...to my Shed!
Ah, Sunday; a day of rest...
...once I've dropped Benedict off at his weekend job at 0830HRS
...once I've made the breakfast
...once I've returned the courtesy car to my local garage and picked up my new vehicle (VW Touran R.I.P)
...once Arthur and I have been around the Ledbury car boot sale
...once Ziggy the dog has had a walk
...so it's going to be circa 2.30PM before I get a chance to sit down.
Yesterday, Arthur and I had our first run at Flicky Spaceships and enjoyed it very much indeed:
In summary: Pick up the type of resource appropriate to the hex your ship is currently on THEN flick your ship across the board toward a hex of the colour you need next THEN cash in your collected resources (if poss and wanted) for an Equipment card that provides VP and a sweet little ability. Repeat until all special VP chits OR X number of equipment piles have been deleted and add up your scores!
Simple, dexterity-based fun with solid components - including a set of lovely deep-foam 'edging' bars - and a perfect 20 mins of playing time; it is, of course, the game that won the UK Games Expo Re-Design contest a couple of three years back. The contest involved giving a copy of a (usually-remaindered) game to each participant and asking them to re-purpose its components in to another game; I don't remember what unlucky box of hopelessness led to the inspired Flicky Spaceships but I know it was definitely NOT Scandaroon (because that had been used a couple of years previously...with the winner turning it in to a welcoming hot fire on a cold night).
