I ended up playing three of the games I listed last week as second-chance games, along with the predicted Resident Evil (which really needs a random set-up generator).
We started with Finca, which I suggested Nico and I play since it was quick and we didn't know who else might show up. Just as I was about to start explaining the game Ben and Michael both showed up so we had four.
After Finca and a brief excursion hunting virus-created zombies, I taught Louis XIV. Michael had played before, though it had been years so it was like explaining a new game to all three of them. It turned out as you might expect since I had played it several times. It wasn't a hit, though I suspect all three of them would like to play it again soon to use what they learned this time.
Finally, Michael, Nico and I got in a quick game of Risk Express before things broke up for the day. I discovered that controlling South America and Africa did not beat controlling either Asia or Europe and parts of North America. After some back and forth for a couple of turns, Michael ended up victorious by taking the last part of North America.
And that brings us to the 15th Game of the Week.
I liked Bruno and Bruno's Boomtown the first time I played it. Unlike some bidding games where someone who does not know the game can really mess the game up, it is a fairly forgiving bidding game. as you would expect from Bruno Faidutti, there is some chaos in the game, but it is manageable.
I know Face 2 Face was working on an expansion for the game, and even saw the prototype for it being played, but I would guess it will not see the light of day. It would have been fun to add some more to this game, though it really doesn't need it.
Here's hoping we get to blow up some mines this weekend!
