Jayson Ernest Abbott (May 18, 1960 - August 23, 2012) was a game designer who designed A Fistfull of Miniatures and For a Few Miniatures More. He was also an active wargamer and role-playing game player.
From The Miniatures Page:
After having survived several bouts with cancer, Jayson Abbott passed away today [August 23, 2012], roughly one year after being diagnosed for the third time.
Some here may know him better as Jayson Gralewicz, original author of A Fistfull of Miniatures and For a Few Miniatures More (he changed his name years ago). If you own a copy of those rules, his personality comes through them very clearly. As a matter of fact, the illustration of the bearded, suspender-wearing fellow on the cover of "For a Few Miniatures More" is actually a wonderful sketch of him, one that I will always remember him by. It captures his essence as I knew him:
He was a grognard of the first order; I met him back in the early 1970s, when we were both in high school, and even at that time he seemed like a seasoned gamer. He was a central member of gaming activity in SE Wisconsin and the Madison area, off and on, for the last four decades, most recently associated with NAVCON.
Always quick to laugh, his mirth was infectious, and is now gone from our lives.
RIP, old friend.
