Marc André's father made him play chess at a very young age, as he was president of the local club. As a teenager, he was very much into roleplaying games, before then moving on to wargames and eventually board games. As a Economics major, he mainly worked in trade; buying, selling, and making money out of stocks was kind of a global strategy game for him and he loved it. However, it became very time-consuming that he eventually gave up the work and decided to focus on his family life.
His first published game is Bonbons. His most well-known game, Splendor, was a nominee in 2014 Spiel des Jahres.
In an interview with MeepleTown, Marc claimed that he is inspired by Catan, Carcassonne, and Ticket to Ride.
