Episode: PGFN 014: Influencing Others ( 16.5 MB / 0:00)

The ability to influence other players and their decisions vary widely from game to game. Sometimes it is in direct conflict and sometimes you don't interact at all. Whatever you find your tastes to be, there is sure to be something right for you.

We first take a look at Formula D. This is a great racing game and all about speed management. If you are going to fast through the corners, you aren't going to make it through the race, if you are going to slow you will get left behind. Hey, That's My Fish is an elegant, easy, simple, fast, and fun game. Jump from ice floe to ice floe and collect as many fish as you can, while cutting your opponents off from their game. The board is different every time and falls apart as you play leaving penguins stranded and hungry if you aren't looking out for them. The Dutch Golden Age is a real treasure to play. The influence you spread over the map affects your income and the actions available to you. Those actions will allow you to build up your culture and your ability to win the game.

Boardgame Babylon is back with a mix of items from Orccon 2009. Most of the show is a carcast talking about four games:

* Valdora by Michael Schacht
* The Golden City by Michael Schacht
* Hurry'Cup by Antoine Bauza
* Hogwarts House Cup Challenge by Andrew Parks

And if you listen through the end theme music, you can hear an interview conducted with some of the folks who run the web site: www.mynerdgirl.com. They showed up late for the Q&A so we just recorded their questions, too! It's a quick snippet but it's fun.

Also, be sure to listen for the way to send in an entry for our exclusive Michael Schacht contest. You can win one of the following:

* A copy of the Strategicon exclusive Zooloretto expansion, "King K."
* A signed copy of the Spielbox Zooloretto expansion.

Send in your entries today. We'll take them until March 21th and then pick a winner. The contest is available to everyone WORLDWIDE.

Episode: Pro Tour-Kyoto: The End of the Line ( 0 MB / 50:37)
Here it is then, the pure unvarnished truth. With one round to go, all six players in the Arena knew that a win would see them come back for Super Sunday, and a loss would leave them on the sidelines. Join us then for all the action as Jan Ruess and Yann Massicard, Gabriel Nassif and Brian Kowal, and Brian Robinson and Ari Lax go head-to-head. Interviews with some very happy winners, and the Top 8 is revealed as we head for the first Top 8 of the Pro Tour season.

Episode: Pro Tour-Kyoto: Orsini Jones vs. Scott-Vargas ( 0 MB / 6:28)
As some of you may know, I'm English. Amongst assorted fringe benefits, we understand irony better than anyone on Earth. We understand that for some of you, we're an island of bowler-hat wearing, umbrella-swinging, hair-gelled upper-class toffs, with servants at our beck and call, catering to our every aristocratic whim. To be honest, that's not a stereotype most of us would recognise as the face of modern Britain. In my case, of course, it's absolutely true. In the spirit therefore of the great British broadcasters of the past, we're delighted to offer you a window into the 1930's, as we show you what a top table match might have sounded like between the star of the show Luis Scott-Vargas and the leading British contender Matteo Orsini-Jones. We would like to make it clear that our collective tongue was wedged so firmly in our cheeks for the creation of this piece that actual surgical procedures were required. Thank you.

Episode: Grand Prix-Rotterdam: Into Draft Mode ( 0 MB / 38:30)
The Sealed decks have been put away, and now attention turns to the Shards-Shards-Conflux Draft format. 147 players have been welcomed back to high-level play here on Day Two, and now face six more rounds of competition to determine the Top 8. In our first show we go inside the first three rounds of the day, bringing you Feature Match action featuring Shuuhei Nakamura and the Ruel brothers, Sebastian Thaler and more.
2009-02-27
Episode: Pro Tour-Kyoto: Once More Into the Breach ( 0 MB / 52:22)
Round Nine is upon us, and 186 players are still competing here on Day Two. In the Arena, Charles Gindy and Cedric Phillips of the United States are locked in mortal combat at 6-2. Next door Shouta Yasooka and Akimasa Yamamoto of Japan are looking to move up to 8-1. And in our third marquee matchup, American Brian Robinson will look to prevent the only undefeated player left in the building from extending that astonishing run. And who is that mighty annihilator of worlds? Luis Scott-Vargas. Three killer matchups brought to you from a ringside seat.
2009-02-27
Episode: Pro Tour-Kyoto: Inside the Arena ( 0 MB / 45:22)
So here it is, straight from the Arena, where two of the three undefeated players heading into Day Two would be determined. Some surprising names were showcased in this final round, but nobody could dispute their right to stand apart from their peers, having assembled the perfect first half. Now the challenge becomes the holding onto of their precious lead. We're cranking through the gears as the pace starts to quicken. All the action is just a click away.

Episode: Episode 050: Deadlands: The Flood w/ Matthew Cutter ( 35.08 MB / 76:37)

In addition to Deadlands, we talked about Spirits of '86, Matt's own setting, and the rock opera he did 10 years ago. Also we revealed our favorite G.I. Joe action figures.

We covered feedback, made some announcements, and started a new contest, as well. Since we didn't mention it in the show, we'll set the deadline for the contest here. You have till March 15th to enter.
