Dungeons & Dragons (5th Edition):: Character Sheets - one page for non-caster second page for spellcasting By: dugfromthearth
5e Character Sheets.pdf (425 KB)
Revised character sheets.

One page has no spellcasting, so it has a whole column for features, and lots of space for attacks and equipment. A non-casting class can use this one sheet for everything. There are two versions - skills listed alphabetically and by attribute.

A spell page with a table for listing spells and their details such as casting time, duration, if it requires concentration or is a ritual. A spellcaster just adds this to the first sheet to have everything they need.

Dungeons & Dragons (5th Edition):: Complete D&D Checklist By: malefactorprophet
DnD Checklist - new.xls (966 KB)
I created a complete(ish) checklist of all D&D publications from the beginning. I did not include magazines.

I hope that anyone takes this and improves it and re-shares it. I will probably try to update it as they release more stuff.

If I missed anything let me know and and I will add it. If you have suggestions feel free to drop them to me.

Hope this helps someone.

Dungeons & Dragons (5th Edition):: Journey System for exploration games - cribbed from The One Ring By: Nazhuret
Journey System.pdf (146 KB)
I took the Journey system from The One Ring as well as a bunch of hazards for that system from online forums and modded them to work with 5E exploration games.

I'm mainly going to use it with a "pathcrawl" game on a large island, but you could really use it for whatever you'd like.

Dungeons & Dragons (5th Edition):: Excel file optional extra for race creation article By: Coronoides
5e race design 41.xlsx (1.53 MB)
The excel sheet reflects all the changes in the document and contains a few new goodies. There is a rough analysis of Epic Boons and a series of tabs for races for settings from my play-testing sessions. Keep an eye on future issues of RPG Review for write-ups of these and other PC races. There is also a tab devoted to a developing fan conversion of Council of Wryms with better cross-compatibility with regular D&D campaigns. The Council of Wryms thorough Review and conversion article is still being written at this time.

Dungeons & Dragons (5th Edition):: Reverse engineering WOTC’s race creation system, optional rules for extending it, and 38 example races. By: Coronoides
5e unusual races point build 304.pdf (3.22 MB)
Everything you need to create new races
So how is this article different to other fan races? In Part 2 I have analysed all the race and feat traits in the Players’ Handbook, Dungeon Master’s Guide, Elemental Evil Player’s Companion (EEPC), Volo’s Guide to Monsters, and the Tortle Package and then reverse engineered the system Wizards of the Coast uses in-house to create PC races.

The PDF now has a table of contents and bookmarks.
There are numerous small tweaks made in response to feedback from over 1000 player/hours of testing and 3 years of development. Including changes to prices for flying speeds and some example race designs.
I have now added evidence from the races from Volo’s Guide to Monsters (VGM) and the Tortle Package (TP). This has led to many small changes and a few larger ones. The extra evidence has raised the evidence code of some traits that in turn have added a safety star to many of the example races. Major changes to the price of natural armour and magic resistance have also had knock-on effects on many other traits. In particular Gnome Cunning, Small, Speed 25, and other traits from Small or slow races have been altered. Considering the kobold from VGM I have removed racial ability score ranges except for Strength limits for Tiny races.
Given that Natural armour is so cheap now and that the link to proficiencies more tenuous I have removed the reduction in cost at level 4. To further limit the potential for abuse I have added arbitrary level requirements to natural armour based on the LA when MM monsters typically have each natural armour AC.
In addition to the improvements made in the wake of the VGM analysis I have moved away from crudely pricing powers by estimating adjusting spell level to using the range, targets/area, and uses modifiers from damaging powers on spells similar to the power. This has altered the price of metallic dragon special effect breath weapons for example.
I have carefully updated the example races based on the changes above. Dragons in particular have had numerous small changes. There are also a few new races.
The rules for how Tool Use interacts with shape changing powers and spells have been clarified.

Bestiary.xlsx (104 KB)
Version 4 is a major update, including many additional fields (AC, HP, Speed, Ability Scores). Aside from the extra functionality this provides you, it also makes it much easier to identify duplicates in named NPCs.
• Warsh (DDEX1-3:31) and the Red Wizard Rorreth (DDEX1-4:22) are folded into the CR 2 Evil Mage now, along with Bandit Mage (DDEX2-7:20). This suggests the stat block in Lost Mine of Phandelver should have been CR 2 rather than CR 1.
• Farvnik the Venomous (DDEX1-10:32) has essentially the same stat block as Talis the White (HDQ 93), with the exception of no +1 armor, no wand of water, and a slightly different spell list. I've left them both in as separate rows anyway.

I have expanded the Levels and CR worksheets. And I've added Templates, Size, and Ability Scores worksheets.

Additional titles covered comprise: DDEX1-11 to DDEX1-14, DDEN2, DDEX2-1 to DDEX2-7, Princes of the Apocalypse and its online supplement.

Kuo-Toa Monitor is now included (an oversight on my part) and I've corrected a handful of transcription errors that I've identified (thanks to being able to cross-reference CR, AC, HD, Size, and Ability Scores).

Psychic Gray Ooze now gets its own line of data since its Int score differs from standard Gray Ooze.

May 6, 2015
Bestiary.xlsx (50 KB)
Version 3. Minor update to include DMG content: Larva, Avatar of Death, Giant Fly.
Dec 8, 2014
Bestiary.xlsx (50 KB)
Version 2 contains the following updates:
* Changed spellings from British English to American English (Armour, Spectre, etc.)
* Added entries from DDEX1-9, DDEX1-10, Rise of Tiamat
* Added columns for spellcaster level and type (but not innate spellcasting)
* Added individuals (previously just generic entries were included) - these cells are highlighted to aid sorting/filtering.

I found that a lot of what I was using the spreadsheet for was looking up spellcasters (to quickly pull out a stat block for a low-level wizard, for example). This version facilitates that with its extra columns, and also by adding named individuals.

Dungeons & Dragons (5th Edition):: D&D Next Damage Probability Chart By: robbbbbb
DDNextDmgProbChrt.zip (1.56 MB)
This is a damage probability chart I built to answer a question on a thread: Does D&D Next handle both high-AC, low-hp monsters and low-AC, high-hp monsters well?

After playing around with it a bit, I think the answer is, "Yes." You should take a look and see what you think.

Put the stats for the party/monsters above, and the defenses and hit points for the defender below. The chart will calculate the odds of the party/monsters eliminating the defender after each attack.

Dungeons & Dragons (5th Edition):: D&D Damage Probability Chart By: robbbbbb
D&DNext Damage Prob Chart.xls (7.17 MB)
This is a combat odds probability calculator. It includes what we know about the D&D Next rules system, and the sample page uses four of the playtest characters and the stats for an ogre on defense.

It makes a few assumptions (such as that PCs continue to attack in the same order, and don't go down from damage.)

I built it in the first place to answer a question: Does Next handle low-AC/high-hp monsters as well as high-AC/low-hp monsters? I still need to play around with it a bit, but I think the answer is, "Yes."

It's a 7.5 MB Excel file, zipped down to 1.5 MB.
