This might be the definitive version of the Wolf Guard. Compared to v. 1.20, it mostly re-considered the wording of the abilities, and slightly modified the design of some of them. The "guard" mechanics was also eliminated. If the playtesting goes well, the next updates will only concern the art of the cards.

Updates v. 1.20
Notes on the main design changes
- The playtest showed that—after some training—playing with the Wolf Guard (especially with a 3-team game) is too easy. The Wolf Guard has far too many chances of eliminating genestealers trough multikilling and safe choices as well as some very effective and simple options available to chose. Because of this, I have reduced the power and/or the flexibility of some abilities.
- The Wolf Guard now includes two more teams (Pink and White). These are to be considered as a minor expansion of the Wolf Guard in the same way in which Space Marine Pack 1 expands the Blood Angels.
Pink and White Teams are still at initial stage of the design but can already be included in your games with the Wolf Guard. I suggest not to play with both of them but to mix one of them with the other more playtested teams.
Also, I have given no order number to their actions: please feel free to play them at any moment of the Support/Movement/Attack actions, and report in your questionnaire which numbers are more feasible to them.

Prototype
- The prototype has been updated to include the art of the Space Marine cards (not final).
- The prototype also includes a save-ink version of the same Space Marine cards.

Space Marines
- Brother Vulpen’s name changed to Vortigern;
- Iron Priest Vortigern’s name changed to Jurgen.

Guard Trait
- The Guard trait can now be used only to improve the defence chances of Space Marines who are adjacent and in the facing of the Guard Space Marine.
- It is now clear that the Guard trait can be used to spend more than 1 Support Token to increase the bonus added to the roll of the defending Space Marine.

Card Abilities
Team Blue — Support: Battle Cry. Activating the effect now requires to spend 1 ST: “After resolving this card's action, you may spend 1 Support Token from your Space Marines to shuffle 1 Genestealer card (of your choice) into the smallest blip pile.”
Team Green — Support: Block and Smash. The killing effect is now limited to the swarms in front of Egil.
Team Green — Movement: Deceptive Manoeuvring. The effect has been limited: “After resolving this card's action, you may move 1 swarm to an adjacent position (without changing its side).”
Team Purple — Support: Oath of War: The effect has been limited to roll 4 (instead of 4 or 5): “Choose a Space Marine. You may add a Sk. to any 4 rolled by him while attacking (limit once per round).”
Team Purple — Movement: Frightening Charge: The effect has been limited exactly to the half (rounded up) cards of genestealers in the swarm: “After resolving this card's action, you may shuffle half (rounded up) of the Genestealer cards (of your choice) engaged with Wolf Priest Sigurd into the smallest blip pile.”
Team Red — Support: Resolute Command”: The effect has been limited only to moving another Space Marine: “After resolving this card's action, you may move or change the facing of 1 Space Marine.”
Utility Mechadendrites: The activation cost has been raised to 2 because the effect can be very powerful.
Team Yellow — Movement: Flanking. Both Space Marines can use Flanking to attack but only Torfin now benefits of the killing bonus on 3 or 4: “Flanking: After this cards' action, any of your Space Marines who did not activate a terrain may attack a swarm in his front at an adjacent location. Each time Brother Torfin rolls 3 or 4 while attacking, slay 2 Genestealers in the swarm (instead of just 1).”

Updates v. 1.10
Space Marines
- Brother Fenmar's and Ranek's attack ranges have been switched---coherently with the switch in their special abilities in v. 1.00; it was my mistake to forget about this.

Card Abilities - Major Changes
- Purple support: Oath of War. It has been slightly improved. The (ambiguous) text "When the choosen Space Marine attacks, add a Sk. to any 4 or 5 rolled" was transformed in "On his first failed attack, add a Sk. to any 4 or 5 rolled". Limit is always once per round.
- Red attack - Plasma Blast. Removed the line on failing to add Support Tokens---it almost never happens. Added: "If Sergeant Gunnar did not fire this round, remove 1 Support Token from Plasma Blast."
- Yellow movement - Flanking . Improved with the bonus earlier given to the Yellow attack: "Each time your Space Marines roll 3 or 4 while attacking, slay 2 Genestealers in the swarm (instead of just 1)."
- Yellow attack. Reverted to the old defence-style attack: "If any of your Space Marines slays at least 1 Genestealer, add +2 to his roll while defending."

Assited abilities
- “Melee Fighter” trait changed into “Guard”;
- Assisting abilities changed to Guard abilities in the following way: “In any moment, any Space Marine with the Guard ability may spend 1 Support Token on him to add +1 to the die rolled by an adjacent Space Marine while defending.”

Space Marines
- Brother Faust’s name changed in Haegar;
- Brother Fenmar and Gunnar are now the squad Sergeants.

Card Abilities - Major Changes
- Blue Attack: Trail of Blood. Now this ability refers to Ranek rathern than Fenmar. Trail of Blood does not anymore automatically kill 1 Genestealer. Modified into: “Brother Ranek may attack or defend against any swarm engaged with him as if he was facing it. Each time Brother Ranek rolls a Sk. while attacking a swarm engaged with him, he may immediately move, change facing, and/or make 1 additional attack.”
- Green Attack: Furious Attack. There is no need to punish the Green Team for taking the chance for an extra attack. The malus on the second attack has been eliminated: “Your Space Marines may attack twice (instead of just once).”
- Grey support: Precognition. The second next higher result indicated in the previous version was too much because it applies to all rolls (including terrain and events): “Choose a Space Marine. Once this round, you may turn a die rolled by him on its face showing the next higher result.”
- Purple move: Frightening Charge. The Frightening Charge as described before was too complex for nothing since it wasn't that effective as well. Modified into: “After resolving this card's action, you may shuffle into the smallest blip pile up to half (rounded down) of the Genestealer cards from a swarm facing Wolf Priest Sigurd. When defending against this swarm, any Space Marine gains +1 to his roll.”
- Red support - Resolute Command. Either an extra move or change facing is a sufficient bonus. Modified into: “After resolving this card's action, you may move or change the facing of 1 Space Marine.”
- Red move - Mechadendrites. Re-rolling for terrains should come with a cost. Modified into: “Each time your Space Marines activate a terrain, you may spend 1 Support Token from any of them to re-roll the die once.”
- Yellow support - Tireless Hunter. Some play testers complained that they often forgot to activate this ability at the right time (i.e., after a swarm spawned or moved). I modified Tireless Hunter making it more straightforward: “At the end of the Event phase, your Space Marines may move in the formation following the position and front of a swarm within range 3.”

Updates v. 091
Prototype
- added small arrows onto the Space Marine Cards to indicate swarm movement;
- minor edits to the title and the text of many abilities.

Assited abilities
I simplified the assist mechanics: "While defending, any Space Marine gain +1 to his roll for every (i) adjacent (ii) Melee Fighter Space Marine (iii) with a Support Tokens on him".
This new mechanics is simple, straightforward, forces the player also to exploit the vanilla marines placing them at the center of the fighting. Having additional defence is also necessary for the Wolf Guard, since it lacks absolute defence abilities (like BA's Power Field, Giedeon's Block, Yellow Team's Defensive Stance).

Space Marines
- Fixed the Attack Range of all Space Marines (the whole squad now has a mean of 1,3 against BA's 1,7).
- Brother Volund's name changed to Faust;
- Blue Team's Vulpern with Heavy Bolter switched to Wolfpriest Sigurd's Purple Team;
- Purple Team's Ranek with Bolt Pistol switched to Brother Fenmar's Blue Team;
- Borther Egil and Brother Gunnar promoted to Sergeant.

Card Abilities - Major Changes
- Blue's attack modified into: "Trail of Blood: Before resolving this card's action, you may slay 1 Genestealer engaged with Brother Fenmar.Each time Brother Fenmar rolls a Sk. while attacking a swarm engaged with him, he may immediately move, change facing, and/or make 1 additional attack.
- Green support modified into: "Block and Smash: While defending, Sergeant Egil rolls 2 dice (instead of just 1). Slay a number of Genestealers in any attacking swarm facing Brother Egil equal to the half of their difference (rounded up) then take the higher roll to defend."
- Green movement modified into: "After resolving this card's action, you may move a swarm up to 2 positions in the formation up to 1 of your Space Marines (without changing its side)";
- Grey's movement modified into: "Psychic Probe: In the Event phase, you may spawn Gestealer cards from the top of the discard pile (instead of from a blip pile). At the end of the Event phase, for every Genestealer card spawned in this way remove 1 Genestealer card from the top of the correspondent blip pile.";
- Purple's support simplified into (in order to limit dice throwing): "Oath of War: Choose a Space Marine. When the choosen Space Marine attacks, add a Sk. to any 4 or 5 rolled (limited once per round)";
- Purple's attack modified in: "Covering Fire: After attacking with 1 of your Space Marines, you may move the attacked swarm to an adjacent position and/or to the other side of the formation." Note that now you can replace the swarm before you attack with your second Space Marine;
- Red's support modified in: "Strategic Re-deploying: After resolving this card's action, you may move and/or change the facing of 1 Space Marine."
- Yellow's attack improved in: "Wolf Claws: Each time your Space Marines roll 3 or 4 hile attacking, slay 2 Genestealers in the attacked swarm (instead of just 1)." Earlier it gave only +1 defence if the attack was successfull. This was too little, since there is even a chance to fail the attack. Killing a second genestealer is more rewarding, and necessary to balance the risk of fighting at range 0.

I created 12 games using the base game and the 3 expansions (4 teams each game). These card combos are not meant to maximize team synergy or strength, but simply to play the game multiple times such that I get to play all Marine teams and locations in various combinations.

Each game also has a game log to record the results.

The print is a little small, but that is so each "card" will fit inside the original game box. Print is on 8.5x11 inch paper, and then cut each "card" from that.

I guessed on the names of the team symbols. For example, Brother Claudio is on the "Claw" team.
