This is an attempt to list the games on BGG that can be played with icehouse pyramids, sorted by rating. Some of them require additional materials.

A more official list can be found at http://www.icehousegames.com/SLICK.html

This list was inspired by Sonja's comment on another icehouse pyramid game list asking for the list to be sorted by rank. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist.php3?action=view&listi...

Additions are allowed, but please only add icehouse games.

Dectana is a sibling of Zarcana and Gnostica, but uses the dual-suited Decktet instead of a Tarot deck. There are six suits instead of four, with each suit having two abilities. Hoard and reveal three aces to end the game, then the highest score wins.

Caldera uses the same eruption mechanism as Volcano, but can be played with only Rainbow stashes (granted, you need 6 of them). It uses "3 monochrome trios" as the end game and win condition instead of an all-colors/count-points ending.

I have not played this, but I hope to get around to it eventually. It sounds like a mix of Gnostica and Werewolf. It does require some good/evil player indicators that can be passed out in secret.

In addition to pyramids, this game uses easy-to-make structural cards out of plastic or cardstock, along with 2d6 or 1d12 or -- best of all -- the die from Cthulhu Dice. Although it is framed as a competition to have the uppermost piece in a collaborative structure, the real fun is in creating a bizarre "city," and the solitaire version is fun too.

Quintazone is a game somewhat like Carcassonne played with an Aquarius deck and Icehouse pieces. The game ends when all Element cards have been placed. All Goal cards are then revealed, and every pyramid scores points for its owner: its size (1, 2, or 3) multiplied by the size (number of cards) of its Zone, doubled if the element of the Zone matches the player's Goal card. The player with the most total points wins.

A fine game, although it does take a Tarot deck to play, and it takes a lot of spcae unless you have a small Tarot deck.

This is a marvelous little game. It has so much going for it that other Icehouse games don't seem to have:

-It feels like a
"complete," "real" game, rather than simply a game made up by fans of a piecemeal game system (don't get me wrong, I love the system) to give players something to do with the pieces other than to marvel at their prettiness.

-It has both short-term tactics and long-term strategy as vital elements of the overall gameplay.

-Though thinly themed, it has a theme that strengthens, rather than detracts, from the play (some of the other, more obscure Icehouse games have absolutely ridiculous, laughable, third-grade themes).

-The game's strategies are deep enough and the setup of the game variable enough that repeat plays don't seem tiresome.

Moscow Ice is an abstract strategy game similar to chinese checkers. To play you will need a different coloured Icehouse stash for each player and a (modified) 8x8 Chessboard. [The game is played on a central 6x6 grid with each side extended by a centrally placed single row of 4 – this is an 8x8 Chessboard minus three Squares in each corner.

Players sit at opposite sides of the board. The pieces are oriented to point away from a player to show that that player controls them. The remaining pyramids are placed in a common area off the board that is available to both players. To show that neither player owns any of these pyramids initially, they should be in this "global stash" standing upright. There are also two initially empty off-board "prisoner areas", one near each player, to hold the pieces captured by that player. The object of the game is to capture all of an opponent's Monarchs (large blue pieces). There are twelve different pieces in the game, each with a unique movement.

Players stack pyramids, not allowing them to touch more pieces than the number of pips on the piece.

* Each player must place a piece of a different size than the previous placement. (The first piece placed on the Foundation is not affected by this rule.)
* The point of one piece cannot touch the inside point of another piece
* A piece can be placed on top of another piece as long as it does not violate these rules
* Pieces must be placed with one hand
* A player cannot touch any pieces other than one the being placed (unless reassembling after a break)
