This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty, but as always, add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
The Thrift Store/Bargain Finds List Wayback Machine: The Grand Vizier is maintaining a list of all the weekly lists through time. He is also adding stats and interesting tidbits for us thrifty geeks. Your Thrift Store Bargain Finds Through Time (with links to all previous lists)
Our GeekGuild: Welcome to The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Please do mind the stacks of prized games, do not mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Make sure to bow before our King Hakfoo I, and pay your due respects to previous Kings Belial, Great_Mazinga, minionhunter, Krazygit, EvilTimmy and Blackwind.
The Order's Anthem: Sing along with our good old thrifty theme song...
Passed on a number of these last year and then was informed they had some value around the holidays. I was not pleased with myself. I've now begun to collect them for the upcoming season. Box is in excellent condition and everything works.
More often than not this game is thrown into the thrift bin but I dug it out for the 39th thrift of this unique dice game for .99 at the new City Thrift. I like the dice and may use this in the classroom as a visual knowledge game.
Another from my top ten most wanted is found! Value Village, $3.99. Looks like all the parts are here...the game board itself is huge and in great condition, as are the components. The only negative: the lid of the box is badly dished, and speaking of dished, it almost looks like someone ate a deep dish pizza off this thing. Badly stained...by something...
As I plan on keeping this one for games nights, I'll craft a better lid and pitch the gross one before my germophobia goes into overdrive.
I know A&A has its critics, but it is still a great game to get the old schoolers back to the table.
