It was going to be a hot, hot day outside and that may have accounted for at least 10 tables worth of people happily gaming right up until we left at 17:45.

An interesting mixed bag of plays for me this meeting - the highlight being The Name of the Rose. Also, watch the guild for news of Swancon activities.

Rob and I cracked open our new game of this and learned it while teaching it to Annalise.

I enjoyed it, I think more than the standard Small World - I like the artifacts and places...that's pretty cool.

I won by about 20 points - I cycled my characters pretty rapidly - I started off with Flocking Cultists, switched to Wise Ogres and ended on Scared Mummies which really was a fantastic combination. The Sword of the Killer Rabbit was good too, and the Tomb Raiders ghost.

A fun variant, probably more fun that Small World.

Neither of them, of course are a patch on Vinci. I will bring it next month if anyone wants a game.

Warren had volunteered to teach this intriguing point the accusing finger game and taught and played one session of it which must have gone well because at least one person joined the second group.

I'd previously expressed interest and Warren was good enough to take us through it.

Playing were rdmasters, myself, Annalise, Ariaflame and Jack who'd played in the previous game of it.

Wow - once you get your head around the strange way that suspicion points are accumulated, and the way the 24 hour clock works (alarmingly quickly) it really flows, and it's really good.

One that we will be obtaining, we think.

I was eventually found to have the most evidence stacked against me. This would have not been the case except for my almost pathological inability to draw "1" or "0" cards.

Our perennial favourite and quite an odd 4 player game, due to a very early messy snarl around Essen and Amsterdam in the first couple of turns.

Tim, Ariaflame and rdmasters and I were playing, and Tim won.

I offered to teach this at the start of the day and no one said no thanks, well not initially anyway.

And then they didn't say it when I suggested a second game.

Should be plenty of people that know this game soon as I managed to sell 12 copies of the game @ $10 this month to add to the 8 we sold last month.

I played this with Hadassa, Raymond and Shaun. Originally just Hadassa and I were going to play it as a filler while we waited for Raymond to arrive to teach us Power Grid, but he got there after we'd just started so he decided to join in, and Shaun arrived just in time to join in too.

The game wasn't very deep or exciting but it didn't take long and had some funny moments because of the theme about buying and selling body parts. Hadassa was the first to fill her slab with all the necessary body parts, but Shaun won, thanks to a couple of valuable coffins.

Hadassa and I had been looking forward to learning this for a while so we arranged for Raymond to teach us. Also playing were Shaun, Opalina and Karl, all of whom had played before, but not many times.

Raymond got off to a strong start and powered ahead, remaining in the lead the whole game, then won by a decent margin. We accidentally played with all six regions, so there wasn't a huge amount of competition for cities. Getting this rule right might have made for a closer game, but Hadassa and I really enjoyed the game anyway and are keen to play again.

I'd been excited about this game, which I'd heard described as a second generation deck building game, since I'd first heard about it, so I was keen to play it when I saw that Raymond had brought it. Hadassa and I played it with Raymond and Matt K.

It has some very interesting mechanisms, making it feel very different from Dominion - eg being able to just get new cards for free by selecting them as roles (instead of mostly gaining cards by buying them) and the ability of other players to follow or dissent from the roles.

We didn't quite get to finish, but Matt or Raymond would have won if we did.

Warren, Roger, and Generals Greg and Kim.

Fun game with plenty of competition for cards, wood and buildings in this easy worker placement game. Kim was punished for not using the smelly dice cup.

Everyone agreed the club should add this to the game library.

Played two games of Dominion with Sam and Jonathan. I think Sam won both with low value victory cards that I was sure he didn't have enough of each time... Also he never played before.

I did a bit of creepy standing over tables to see what people were playing as well.

Probably a good thing I got there as late as I did or I may have had time to play some kind of epic new game I would have had to buy immediately. Also sad I didn't arrive early enough for such an endeavor.
