First up, Jess and I taught Ian and Tegan Airlines Europe.

I bought this from Eric last year, and this was our second play.

So far it's been a big hit with us!

It's fairly easy, once you get your head around when you take share vs when you take money.

I made a point of saying that I had won my first game by being the only one to take Air Abacus shares and yet they let me do it again.

I don't think it was too giant of a win though, and Ian and Tegan did great, especially towards the end.

We'll have to have a rematch!

Up next (while Jess and I ate lunch) was this little game that mostly flew under the radar. It's basically like Cleopatra and the Society of Architects - The Card Game. It does remove the physical building aspect of Cleopatra that makes that game so appealing, but it also simplifies it a lot.

You still collect sets to 'build' a temple in Egypt, and there's still special character cards with powers, and, most importantly, there's still corruption points.

You have to take cards from the 'market' and if you take the first card, it's free, but if you take the second one, you take the first card and add it to your corruption pile, and so on.

It's relatively fast (especially once you know how to play) but luck does play a fair amount into it.

The production is also wonderful - Great art, fantastic insert etc, except, it really needs player aides for the powers, and they were not included and no one has made any for the geek yet unfortunately. Some day I will sit down and do it myself.

I did win with one, though Jess was in the lead up until the last round.

Then Ian taught us Cosmic Encounter, by my request.

I have long heard about and wanted to try this game, and even came very close to buying it myself, however I am glad I didn't.

I used to think I hated Monopoly, but it turns out I just don't like it very much, because I never hated a game before this one.

I felt a little guilty not enjoying the game, as Ian loves it and it appears his regular gaming group also hate it.

One major rule was neglected in the teaching - that you could lie! So when that came up... Well, it wasn't too well received.

We also played it a little wrong (though Ian did teach this rule, Jess and I just forgot it) which was taking a reward in situations where you helped the defender.

Anyway, despite that, I am certain that game is not for us!

Jess did manage a sneaky win though.

(Sorry Ian!)

Lastly Tegan chose Luna.

It's a recent addition to our collection, and has had a lot of play already. It's also our first Stephan Feld game (though I just ordered Macao in the Milsims sale).

Everyone who came by the table said they hadn't seen or heard of the game, which isn't too surprising, it didn't seem to do too well or make a very big splash when it came out, and it's already out of print.

It's a shame, as it's a really great game, and a unique take on worker placement. All of your workers (novices in this game) are on islands that grant actions - If you want to use the actions of other islands you need to first get them to the other islands, which require either special action tokens or using them up this round so that you won't be able to use them until the next one.

You always need to be thinking of the next round in the current one.

There are a lot of things you need to keep your eye on, and also a lot of ways to go about earning victory points.

I would say it's one of those games you need to play an entire game before you really 'get' it - to see which areas need to be concentrated on, and I managed to win by a fairly large margin, but I think Tegan might have had the highest scoring final round? So, again, we'll need a rematch.

Rob and I had been busy all morning and part of the afternoon selling sausages inna bun at Bunnings for the Perth Disc Golf Club fundraiser, so we were very weary having been on our feet for 5 and 1/2 hours.

It was nice to sit down and start off on this one. I think I came second. ariaflame won.

We played a very close six player game of this, including a couple of new players.

Final scores
12 (shared by four players)
11
10

The tie breaker is the number of cards left in your hand at the end of the game (the person with the most wins) so don't throw your hand in until the scoring is done.

Ernest ran a game of BSG as part of his attempt to play all possible combinations of the game.

We were overwhelmed by the Cylon fleet very early and needed to use Cain's special ability to jump whilst sacrificing 2 civilian ships. Quick progress was made after that but just past the halfway point 2 heavy raiders managed to board and once the Cylons had been revealed they were able to march the invaders straight to the CIC and victory. Humans should've spent a little more time on the gun range practicing their shooting.

Cylons: Oliver, Roger
Humans: Ernest, Renato, myself

Got a couple games of this in with Renato, Mark, and newcomers to WABA, Shane and Julie.

The first game went very quickly with Shane sweeping to victory on the first turn with a Targaryen deck against the Baratheons, Martells and the Brotherhood.

The second game saw the Targaryens swapped out for Lannisters and the Martells for the Tullys. This time I actually got to take a turn but after a couple hours Renato and his Baratheons scraped to 15 power on what was going to be our last turn before lights out.
