The most recent Pasteboard and Plastic (Sussex's biggest boardgame event (possibly)), took place on 7 July 2012. Somewhere around 30 attendees, plus the traditional raffle where the lucky winners received the sort of games that they'd never thought they would ever own.

Here's a list of some of what was played. Please feel free to add to it, should you so wish.

As ever, many thanks to Dick Ruck for organising.

A worthy addition to the Zooloretto stable.

I played this four times and lost every one.

A game I try to play every time I can get three gamers to sit down at a table.

A very close finish with Slanesh (Miguel) and Tzeentch (Tim) both completing their victory dial on the same go, Nurgle (John) racking up the points. Myself, as Khorne, lossed by a long stick (but I'm blaming the dice for that).

A game system I quite like. But this was the first time I'd played the ACW one. I think it's my least favorite of the five (or more) versions.

Despite that I won, but more by lucky dice rolling than anything else.

This one seemed to go down very well with the younger gamers. With the Chaos team claimed a well earned victory.

The first time I'd played this, and I like it a lot. It's quick and fun, and the set up time is minimal. I'd really like to play this a lot more, and if the publishers are reading this - print some more armies! I'm ready to buy them.

A completely new game for me.

A set collection mechanic with a bit of interplanetary travel thrown in all of which zips along at the speed of light.

Thanks to Mark (or possibly Tony) for bringing this one, and explaining so patiently that there was no inter-spaceship combat.

Hmm. I've obviously not been paying attention. What are these "comments rolls" of which you speak BGG? I can't seem to add comments to individual items (For I was that Tzeentch, Changer of Ways and Unnecessary Complicator of Name-Spelling or "That's him, the blue god in the corner, trying to stay out of the way and not be noticed by that angry red geezer with the horns").

[Edit - comments have been fixed. Thanks Gary]

One of the pleasures of PnP is a chance to play games I've never played before with people I don't normally get to play with. In the case of Chaos in the Old World, I have to thank Gary, Miguel and John for introducing me to a great game and especially thank the mighty Khorne for continually embarrassing himself with weedy dice-rolls. Not that I won in the end because, although I, Tzchongg, achieved my victory condition I didn't have the points to back it up, having been avoiding the nastier gods as much as possible while muttering "Heavy man... Can't we all like, just get along?"

After this Miguel introduced me to another game I really enjoyed: Alien Frontiers, and we won a game apiece which was nice. Since Dick obviously thought it pretty impressive that I should beat Miguel at a game he is very good at, I should perhaps now come clean and note that there were a number of times when he kindly pointed out the newbie's optimum use of his dice rolls when he noticed that I was about to miss an opportunity and this was often to his own detriment... I was getting the hang of it though and liked it a lot.

Back with my homies for a game of the turbo-charged version of an old favourite (one of the first I ever played with a Saltdean Gamer): Saboteur.

Helen has never really forgiven me for being a Saboteur in that game, years ago, but this time I was pure as the driven slag and she was part of an axis of evil running the length of the left-side of the table. Most of my regular opponents in the Saltdean Gamers where involved: Thank you Heidi, Damon, Dick and Helen. We were also joined by Tony and Fluffy(?) who I initially thought were very nice chaps...but then they started trapping me and breaking my pickaxes - I blame Helen's influence. Modesty forbids my mentioning which green/blue dwarf/geologist won this dig-fest by a single point.

The raffle was a great feature as usual and this time I not only won something but was first up. I went for Familienbande as a known quantity -
It's a nice little filler with which I'm familiar and which I think my friends will like.

There were bigger more exciting boxes of bits to be won though - Miguel came away with a CSI game which, amongst all kinds of nice bits, included a bizarre cloth bag-full of rubber invertebrates. I was green with envy. Happy with my win though.

If you're going to do 14 hours of gaming, start off with a big game, I always say. Evidently, Steve, Richard and Pete agreed. It was either this, or Dicks offer of a game of "I really like this, but no-one else thinks its any good" so I hope I chose wisely.

So off we went, brains burning before brunch. A solid 4 hours of gaming time came down to the wire. Pete beat Richard by 1 point. Richard beat me by 1 point. Steve was not too far away either.

Cracking!

I quite like this game, but it doesn't like me. This was my second stab at it. Coming just after the tightest game of Dominant Species ever, I had a game of something in which my previous experience was to fail to win on the last dice roll.

If only I could say I was anywhere near this time. I had plenty of chances to persuade Pete and Steve to attack each other, whilst being rubbish myself. But I had 5 priests, so ner.

Pete won, stealing a big city is the way to go.

I taught this one to Pete and Keith and it seemed to go down alright. It's a simple enough Dominionesque concept, you just choose to buy / draft increasingly powerful / rewarding cards as the game progresses. Then someone wins. Sorted!

A good end to the day. A rapid game of this modern classic with Helen and Mike. I tend to do rather well at this game, which is always pleasing!
