MJ's Spiel 2012 Report
This was my 11th Spiel in a row.Recommend
We went on Friday, arriving around 10:30 and staying until 16:00. Like last year I went with my 10-year-old son, a colleague, and his two sons (ages 7 & 10). Neither of our wives is a gamer so it was a boys' day out. We bought a "Family Ticket" which is a great value (2 adults plus 2 kids for 26€), plus a single kids ticket.
While it's great going with the kids, they do limit your mobility and flexibility so my list of purchases and plays were shorter than I would have preferred. I'm also not much into the "new and shiny", generally waiting a year or so to find out what's really worth purchasing.
Overall, the fair seemed slightly smaller this year in terms of number of vendors but hat also meant there was a bit more room to move. The LEGO booth was missing all together but that was a good thing because while the kids love trying those games, I've found they have very little replay ability and they're now just taking up space.
So what did we see, do, and buy?
