So, this year, among with the usual concerns from previous years, I will end up with less money and also less wifie's credits to buy new games.

The real problem isn't the luggage's weight anymore but the economical status. I will try to get out of my real life and try to get the cream of the crop from Essen. Try! Seven (7) slots is all I have for now. Seven slots for seven games.

Help me out here. If you have suggestions on something, be my guest. Comment!

Changes will happen until the D day.

Preordered the 2012 Wolfram Janich's 18xx. Will be a complete surprise to me but hopefully a great game too. For "aficionados" only.
It is expensive given the usual normal price, so it is far away from the crisis I'm stucked in. Nevertheless I've decided to reduce the number of slots for new games because of this one. 76 €!!! This is a good decision. This is a good decision. This is a good decision...

Preordered this one at 45€. It seems that the common price tag so far is above 45€ so this one ended up being a good opportunity. Or a flop! Not sure yet but given the rules it seems to have a nice area control dynamic using the different levels of strength and a brief economic feeling. The theme is different from the usual and hopefully will feel like it. This one is probably my craziest choice ever given the risks of ending up playing it alone.

Preordered this one too. 40€ seems to be a good deal when thinking about the pornographic price KeyMarket achieved last year after the show. I like Keythedral very much but my experience with the Key series ends here as I don't really particularly enjoy any of the others. The fun thing to me actually is the fact that I don't recognize the series idea on any of these titles. I don't think they are connected at all apart from the graphics. The theme over the immigrants on the US is a really good idea if it provides a good game. Others have tried but failed, IMO. Lets cheer for this one.
And I really am a sucker for Julia Breese's artwork.

Didn't decide on this one yet. Started to read the rules but they are dense enough to ask for another view. The game seems heavy and with lots of things going on but the real choice of actions, what players really do in their turns still bugs me a little as I don't really understand if it's interesting or too much mechanized and thus dull. Must follow through the rules again and make everything less opaque than it is now. Love the artwork though and the components seem to get me there too. The price (60€), once again, makes me concerned on my current status - running to poverty really fast!

Every year Splotter releases a new game (or a reprint) everybody complains about their prices but the real thing is that they sell like hell. They sell everything they put up for sale IF the game is good enough. I hope they don't forget about this because Duck Dealer was a flop because it's a bad enough game.
Zimbabwe was presented to me in Essen last year (to me as to everyone else there, obviously) and it seemed pretty good to like. When Splotter makes good economic games they really are a joy to play. Occasionally but that's how I like them to be. Meaty and hard to play. Will get my hands to this one, sooner or later. I will probably buy half of it with a friend. It should work splitting prices because 70€ is a lot of weight!

Yedo is about Japan. If you want me to buy a game make it about Japan. Sucker for the theme am still going through the rulebook. EggertSpiele released some great games in the past and I have the feeling that falling the impulse gathered by the huge success on Village they will get it right with YEDO too. Hopefully there's a good reason for me to place 50€ on their bank account. If and only if I decide I can go that far. Have to manage very well my 7 slots!

Brilliant system used in this simple yet competitive contender to a slot of mines. Not easy given the strong (so far) competition but it has a solid chance. For what I've seen and heard this should be a step forward in Mesa Board Games career as it publishes a new designer for the first time. I have a strong conviction that everybody is going to love Kosmonauts and thus I may be choosing well if I decide to bring it home. 30€!

Not there yet but a strong contender for a slot.

Hans im Gluck publishes good games all the time. Not superb Games but competent Games. I like it when a publisher has this sort of status quo that they respect. They simply don't cheat. Kiesling & Kramer represent a respectable joint-venture although, in the last few years, they didn't do anything special. Some critics tend to say that really, really new stuff comes from new designers and that 'oldies' tend to make the same old, same old. Well, maybe that's true but I'm hoping for this one to be generous to the novelty.

PS: because there is not much info about this game please let me know if you have something I need to know.

Preordered this one. A shot in the dark (another one) as although I did it after reading the rules I'm not totally convinced about its merits. The individual independent and on player's description scoring made the trick as I got very, very suspicious about it. Meaning that I pay to see what's this scoring thing all about.
Another helper was the discount for Essen. Not an expensive game for this year's status quo - 37€.
Hopefully it's a good game.

One slot here!!!
Have just tried the game and it really is a very interesting game. Not my usual theme (I'm not a big fan of fantastic themed games) but overall this is something really new in the current panorama. Complex, tight and with everything making sense. Players execute actions with a bigger picture in mind and they do this in every single action they take. Everything perfectly put together.
For me it's a must buy. And it's not my theme, let me remember.
The price seems fair and most important, lower than the current tendency for 2012!
