Despite of not playing the game yet this one is the one I consider to be my favorite Essen 2012 game. It was high above my wishlist before the Essen kick-off,so luckely I preordered the game...After about 6 or 7 hours it was sold out...but 7 hours gave me enough time to see the potential of the game, gamecomponents, artwork etc.So now I can't wait to play!!

Didn't go since I'm in the US. I vastly ignored this game since so little info was out. Finally watched the Dice Tower's review and looked at two other reviews since then. This has massive hit written all over it.

For only 7 euro this is a sweet short and fun game. For me it's what Essen is about, playing/buying games you would normaly miss...

Board Game: Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island
I think this is the game I like the most from all the games bought or played at Spiel 2012. It is a great worker placement coop (and that was a free spot in my collection) which is unbelievable full of great theme. Also there is an innovative idea in this game which I never saw anywhere else: Reactions to the players actions in the form of multiple used cards which went from one deck to another.

For example, it is possible that you have to draw an adventure while gathering for resources. After you resolved this adventure, the card is shuffled in the event deck and so it is possible that this card is drawn again in later turns. When it is drawn from the event deck the card can have a different effect which is connected with the adventure that was already resolved. From there it is also possible that the card went to a thread spot where the card can have its third effect. If the players have to discard the card because too many threads came into play a fourth effect can occur. It is hard to explain but really a great way to tell a part of a whole story each time the card is drawn from a different pile. For example it is possible that you find a gorilla while gathering for resources. A few turns later the gorilla attacks the camp. After the attack the gorilla stays near by the camp and if you are unable to hunt it, it will steal food from your camp (or anything like this).

I hope anything I've said made sense...

Because of this great, "new to me" card usage and the fun we had in our first full play, it is the best Essen 12 game for me.
