Taking part is easy:

1) Add the game of the miniature you painted as an item to the list.

2) Add the picture of your painted miniature in the comment section for that game.

(use the format [imageid=xxxxxmedium] where xxxxx is the id of the picture)

That way people will be able to better judge your work. Medium should be sufficient please do not use large.

Rules:

1) The image you submit must have been uploaded during December 2012. Gallery images are ok but submitted images are preferred, as they've gone through the geek mod process it guarantees the picture quality and it's also easier to check the submission date. The contest will end on January 31st.

2) You are the artist. Please do not submit miniatures painted by someone else.

3) One entry per person. You may, however, use up to two pictures of your entry to the front and back of the miniature.

4) The winner will be the picture with the most thumbs. You can thumb as many as you like.

5) If you can; include the make of the mini, scale and what paints you used in your entry.

Prizes:

Any tips received will awarded as prizes as follows:

1st place: 50%
2nd place: 37.5%
3rd place: 12.5%

So if the tip total comes to 40 geekgold 1st will get 20, 2nd 15 and 3rd 5 etc.

Geekgold is also given for honourable mentions so even if you don't feel confident about winning you might still get a prize.

I'll round down tips and put the remainder towards future prizes.

Judging at the end of the month and winners will appear in the next months list.

1st place will now also receive an exclusive microbadge! Microbadge: Golden Turtleback Painted Miniature Monthly Contest winner

Please give this geeklist a thumb to help get it to the front page. The more contestants the better!

And don't forget to click on the images you like and give the actual images thumbs up as well!

I painted this piece during the christmas holiday. Took me about 25 different paints and washes and 3 days to complete. It was a pretty hard one to paint and also very hard one to make good pictures of laugh Therefor some details aren't clearly visible For example the bloot stains on the dress or the bloodpool inside the cauldron. Anyways i would recommend veryone to paint this model, its a very fun one to paint with lots of details.

About the model:
Its a throne made from bones and stone that is being carried by a white/green swarm of skeleton ghosts (think of the Lord of the Ring ghost army). On top of the throne sit 3 vampire ladies.

Hope you guys like it, i sure enjoyed painting it

I just made some new pictures. Trying some new things with the camera. Still not very good, but much clearer then the other ones

I managed three (holy crap, THREE!) sets of painted minis in December, which is a lot for me. These are the best painted although not the best photographed unfortunately.

Vallejo and GW paint. Tamiya varnish.

This is my last mini for GoW (well, last until and if an expansion is released). I think I've painted almost everything that somewhat related to this game...
Anya Stroud, stripped (from paint...), converted, & re-based.
This was a GoW-Heroclix mini. After stripping the paint & removing the base, both Clix weapons were removed, left arm & leg reposed. I've copied the Lancer (chainsaw gun) from an original GoW-boardgame mini with GreenStuff, using insta-mold. The Snub pistol is fully sculpted with GS.
Size : about 30mm
Paints used : Vallejo Model Paints & inks, a couple of GW washes.

I started painting my copy of Sewer Pirates since Katja really likes the game. In December I finished the snails. This is one of them. I used Vallejo paints and Citadel washes.

Board Game: Sewer Pirats

(Yes, the snail is supposed to have a little mustach but I really did not like that detail and choose to ignore it. On the mini you do not recognize the unpainted stash but on the (bigger) picture you can see it...)

Board Game: Eclipse: Rise of the Ancients

Before the expansion came out, I created a seventh set of playing pieces (dark brown) with the ships from Galactic Emperor, wich uses the same ship models in the same quantity.
The ships came in 1 shape for every ship class, only difference for the players is the color of the ships.
I wanted to have a special shape for every players ships with a minimum amount of work and costs and so I cut off parts of the ships and glued them back on the models on different places, or I just cut them off, leaving the rest of the ship untouched.
Then the expansion came out and I now have 10 different shapes for every ship class.
Finally I painted all the models with a quick paint and drybrush technique with some details.
That´s the story behind the ships.
