Something for Squash – a Jack Vasel Charity Auction painting tracking list
They explained everything in detail and at great length. After they finished I sat, despondent, contemplating a bleak and empty future. "I’m glad you’re depressed" said one. "It means you’ve understood the situation.”
A few months ago now I was a participant in the annual Jack Vasel charity auction. I didn’t have any games to offer, rather I offered to paint a dozen miniatures (or equivalent) for the winner; I am a reasonably experienced painter and my entries occasionally do okay in the monthly Turtleback painting competition. I undertook to work closely with the winner to give them, as close as I am able to, a paint job customised to their requirements.
I warned whoever would eventually win that I was a s-l-o-w painter at the best of times and having two children under three at home also makes it difficult to find time to push a brush about. This notwithstanding, bidding was reasonably brisk and at the close I had raised $150 for this most worthy cause.
This list is intended to track the progress of my painting and act as a place for discussion of what could be done next. It will probably only appeal to Squash and myself, but all BGGers are most welcome to subscribe and see what’s happening in this little project.
