Myself and Tegan started the day with Tegan's new copy of London. I had played once before, and had a hard time of it. I managed to get my city under control a lot more this time and managed a reasonable score with a poverty-free city to win the game.

Next we learnt this card game. I'm not familiar with Gin Rummy but I've heard this is based on that game. I found it difficult to get a real feel for the game during play, but have since played again and it's growing on me. Plays to six players, with extra cards coming into play that aren't available in the two player setup, so I'm keen to try with more. I won this one.

Next up we had our second game of this nice Knizia design. I'm pretty new to this game, and no good at it, but I do enjoy the difficult decisions it constantly gives you. It's a little like a competitive version of Lost Cities. Tegan won this one by a landslide.

Next up we joined another group, whose names I can't really remember. One was Christian? Sorry guys...
We played about four games, and were joined for the last one by Opelina and another lady whose name I also can't remember
I enjoyed this, and am looking forward to playing more.

Next myself, Tegan, Tim and Karl played this worker placement game about building a successful ant hive. I really like this game and have now played it with two, three and four. All player counts play well, and fairly quick for the amount of meat in the game. I ended up forgetting a crucial rule on the last turn which caused me to lose to Tim by ONE POINT!

To finish off the evening we played a quick four player game of this clever dexterity Spiel Des Jahres winner. A surprising amount of tactics for a seemingly simple game, with a lot of the fun tension typical of dexterity games. Christian ended up winning I think?

In the last game I played that day, Richard taught me, Jason (who might have played before) and one other new player (Rudolf?) this cooperative superhero game. Some of the bookkeeping felt a little tedious, but the game is reasonably easy to pick up. The heroes and villains are archetypes of the superhero genre and the artwork has an over-the-top superhero feel. While the game was a little less exciting than it had been built up in my head, it is one that I would be willing to play again.

We played one of the easier villains (the robot thingy) and our four heroes were able to defeat him and his robots.

Had a 4 player game of Legend number 3. I forget the names of the fellows who joined us, but they did very well. In fact, they did too well! We team-battled all the monsters, flooring them all in swift fashion, then got to a point where there was little to do except amass more strength, and trade gold so that Opals (Opals and I played the wizard, tag team style) could buy the strength necessary to fulfill our destiny. We were then so suped up for the final boss that we vanquished him in a single stroke. Quite an amazing turn around, considering that last time Opals and I played Legend 3 we didn't make it past day 5 before the monsters overran the castle.

Victory!

Took about 2 hrs.

One of Opals's favourites. We had a 4 player game with two of the same fellows who played Andor previously.
A very simple, and fast-flowing game with a nice steady buildup.
Opalina took the win with her cadre of nobles (SO MANY BONUS POINTS!).

Good fun!

Took about an hour to play.

We started the day with a game of Sherwood. We only played the basic rules but it was light and fun. "Why do they still travel through this intersection" came up a couple of times I'd try this again.

We had a full complement of 6 players for a game of King of Tokyo. It was great fun and everyone got into the theme. Those chunky dice are strangely pleasing to roll.

After the success and popularity of this game at the last WABA meet (see here), Nathan generously organised another game at this meet. This time, there were five who turned up to battle over Westeros. I again had (semi-voluntarily) House Lannister, Nathan again took control of House Baratheon, Rick was in charge of House Tyrell, Aidden commanded House Greyjoy and Rudolf directed Stark.

Greyjoy's self initiated 'alliance' with Lannister didn't even last a turn as they promptly attacked them on turn one. The Lannisters were ready for this and launched a counteroffensive in later turns, described as not even a knife in the back but a very direct 'stare into their eyes and stab in the front'.

It was a game of twists and turns, with one house then another gaining power, only to be beaten down into the pack. Five hours and twenty minutes later, the last turn came about with only House Greyjoy without a chance of winning. Bidding for the three tracks turned everything on its head a long turn with lots of 'if he attacks me first, then I can attack there, unless he goes there, in which case (a different) he could go there, but if he uses his sword on that battle, then he can't use it later on me, which will then...' ensued.

Once all battles had been completed, no house had won outright. Using the tiebreak rules, it was House Tyrell and Rick who emerged victorious. Thanks to Nathan for organising and for everyone else for playing another great session of A Game of Thrones.

At least 4 of us played this game (Richard, me, Jason and one other) - there may have been one other for 5 players? I am really starting to enjoy this quick filler game, with its oversizd characters and thematic buyable powers. All I can remember is that I, once again, did not win this game.

One of WABA's most popular games got another play at this meet. As part of my The Battlestar Galactica Project, I managed to get 4 other players for a 5 player game with a Cylon Leader, Pegasus and going to Kobol (Combination 3 in The Battlestar Galactica Project).

The players were:
Aidden: Karl "Helo" Agathon (cylon (pre-sleeper)
Richard: Leoben Conoy (Cylon Leader)
Jason: Gaius Baltar
Rudolf: Kara "Starbuck" Thrace
Me: Helena Cain

This was a surprisingly comfortable win for the humans. Morale was the resource under threat, but we managed to deal with it pretty well. Aidden found himself in the brig and for me, stayed in there for too long before revealing. I was comfortable that we had brigged the cylon that I was happy to give XOs without too much worry. I used Cain's Once Per Game to blind jump but only got a 1 distance - the fleet ended up having lots of fuel.

After Aidden revealed, his supercrisis of Fleet Mobilization which was played when no ships were on the board purely for the potential morale loss was passed solely by me dumping my entire hand (he didn't have time to get another one).

While it was nice to have a win and always good to play Battlestar Galactica, the win wasn't as close as previous games and while I would not say that the win was hollow, it certainly didn't rival some of the epic games of BSG that I have played. Aidden, like all of us, will continue to learn how to better play this game with repeated plays.

Richard was also able to win, achieving his agenda of Grant Mercy which required a failure on the last jump to bring population down to 2, which was successful (it seems strange to write that the failure was successful...).
