This is a list of Free, Print-and-play games that I've found worth the printer ink, cardstock and those sores I get on my fingers from using right-handed scissors. Okay, most of these games fall into the "light entertainment" category, except maybe Search Diver, Napoleon at Waterloo, Battle for Seattle, etc., but what's wrong with a little light entertainment? I've got BOO COO avalon hill brain twisters, not to mention Fritz Chess if I really want to get into mental gymnastics. (I seldom PERFORM any mental gymnastics, but I like trying, because I hardly ever fall and bust my butt). In truth, These are games that I love to play, and want to share with you. Do you have any favorite print and plays that aren't on here that you might want to recommend? I'd be very grateful!

I love this game. I've played it with my kids again and again. What can I say? This game is so good I'd not have complained having bought a copy that was professionally made! Add to that all the killer expansions, and it's really a must-have for fans of the genre.

This is a cute game; it doesn't have much of a creepy zombie atmosphere. It's got lots of luck involved, and you basically try to "trap" zombies for harvesting for their "prime aged steaks" for haut cuture underground epicures of the world after the the usual zombie holocaust abates. You do this by means of a simple board manipulation mechanic. It's easy, it's fun, and most importantly, IT'S GOT ZOMBIES!! (Who knew they tasted so good?)

I recommend this one. 10 minutes, to a extreme max of 35 minutes. It has a Diplomacy-esque combat system, but you only have up to a 3 card hand which determines where you can place a unit.

Feels like a much bigger game. Works well with any number of players - we've played all numbers a lot of times. Got 15 minutes and want a little wargame fix?

Rules Fix: Germany is a barbarian land only; Germany can never be an Empire, and thus can never bring the win. You don't have to implement this rule, but you will after Germany settles the vast majority of games.

They don't say it, but print the unit counters double-sided. Go ahead and fold them in half and glue them together, it helps the sorting and you only need half anyway. Shaving the only nuisance factor off this game makes it that much easier to break out quickly.

I'm in the business of making up a few print & play games because I'm about to leave my current employer and I feel like abusing the laser printer.

I picked some of the higher-rated ones and then read the rules to narrow down what I was going to try.

This is my first choice. Looks like a cracking game with a good balance of random and strategic element and opportunities for creative and exciting play.

And this is my third pick. Cheeky really since this isn't public domain, but constructing the necessary parts is trivially easy and rules are available on the internet.

Doesn't actually look like a game I'm going to enjoy - a bit too abstract, but I've had it recommended to me for the screwage factor and dinosaurs are always cool.

I'm also going to be printing Sword and Sail and Oh No! There Goes Tokyo, but they're already on this list.

GLIK and it's sibling GLAK. The games are really very, very good. And the printing effort is very small - just some boards. Plus with the same boards you can play both games.

GLIK and GLAK are light and quick abstract games for 2 or 4 players. Both are based on action points that players may use during their turns, but the aim and rules are completely different. GLAK rules are available only in Polish now (English rules to be published soon).
