I'm merely keeping the seat warm for this month until Cerith returns.

Taking part is easy:

1) Add the game of the miniature you painted as an item to the list.

2) Add the picture of your painted miniature in the comment section for that game.

(use the format [imageid=xxxxxmedium] where xxxxx is the id of the picture)

That way people will be able to better judge your work. Medium should be sufficient please do not use large.

Rules:

1) The image you submit must have been uploaded during June 2014. Gallery images are ok but submitted images are preferred. As they've gone through the geek mod process it guarantees the picture quality and it's also easier to check the submission date. The contest will end on 31 July 2014.

2) You are the artist. Do not submit miniatures painted by someone else.

3) One entry per person. You may, however, use up to two pictures of your entry, usually, the front and back of the miniature.

4) The winner will be the picture with the most thumbs. You can thumb as many as you like.

5) If you can; include the make of the mini, scale and what paints you used in your entry.

Prizes:

Unfortunately, I'm reliant on tips to offer decent prizes at the moment as I don't have a huge amount of geekgold.

Any tips received will awarded as follows:

1st place: 35%
2nd place: 25%
3rd place: 15%
Encouragement Awards 25%

Note I have altered this at my discretion - this may change when Cerith retakes the reigns.

Encouragement awards will be given to non-placing worthy entries with a bias to new participants.

I'll round down tips and put the remainder towards future prizes.

Judging at the end of the month and winners will appear in the next months list.

1st place will now also receive an exclusive microbadge! Microbadge: Golden Turtleback Painted Miniature Monthly Contest winner

Please give this geeklist a thumb to help get it to the front page. The more contestants the better!

And don't forget to click on the images you like and give the actual images thumbs up as well!

Please note the guide on taking photos of minis supplied by gilesdorrington has not be included as it looks to be infested with malware. I am happy to link any other useful guide if anyone has any suggestions.

Giles also found this useful website http://www.how-to-paint-miniatures.com/ it's full of useful tips on painting.

Previous contests for your viewing pleasure:

Golden Turtleback Painted Miniatures Contest previous (and current) contests

Attention anyone feeling too daunted to enter!
We now have on offer for entries finishing outside of the top three so enter even if you think you don't stand a chance of winning. This will be awarded at my discretion and probably split amongst several entries.

Our more experienced painters will be able to offer advice and several people have already said they've learnt something simply by seeing their work next to work they consider to be of a higher standard.
So please enter anyway, you've really got nothing to lose.

There's now a guild for anything miniature painting related. It can be found here here

Gandalf the Grey and Gandalf the White:

Board Game: War of the Ring: Second Edition

These miniatures were painted as part of my offering for the Jack Vassel charity auction. Detail on colour and paints used, as well as the collaborative creative process, can be found here:

Tolkein purists will note that Gandalf's horsie is grey in the book; he's white in the film.

15mm figures by Chariot, paints and basing materials by various.

The bronze spear tips are probably historically dubious - ill-equipped tribesmen would more likely have used stone ones - but I use them to mark their Bronze Age-y-ness.

Hello everyone, here is my latest mini: Michelle, the Human Ranger. She's a 28mm Reaper Bones mini painted with Reaper paints mostly and a couple of P3 paints. Photo lighting could be better (especially on the hair sorry!), I'm going to work on figuring that out the more I get involved in mini painting

From gallery of captainraffi

I'm especially proud of this one. The FLGS has been having a monthly mini painting class and the assignment after the 2nd one was to work on blending and bring a mini back in for a contest. This was my submission and I took first place! I was really excited as it was my first real attempt at blending and NMM. I have to say that all the minis in this contest and in the "What are you painting now" thread are a big inspiration and I often find myself looking at them for reference. Big thanks to the painting community here

Also, for future reference, is there a good place to upload pictures of Reaper Bones as a submission so that the images go through the geekmod? Or generally speaking any miniature that isn't from a specific game?

I didn't uploaded much in june, here my modest and "slimy" contribution...

Sorry, M&M agaiiiinnn. Next time I hope I'll have something else!
These are custom minis, glowing pet slugs for Mice and Mystics' expansion, that I've 3D-modeled and had manufactured via [online 3D printing service that shall not be named here because of mod, blah blah blah].

Painted :
Board Game: Mice and Mystics

Unpainted, other rat mini for scale (the slugs's exact height is 15mm from the ground to top of the eyes):
Board Game: Mice and Mystics

A usual I used Vallejo Model colours (+ 1 pre-made wash from GW).

Not the most impressive nor modern of miniatures, but last month I converted a HeroQuest goblin into a Blood Bowl player for my orc team. Given that his team mates are all old-school, plastic single-sculpts themselves, he fits in remarkably well!

When we were approached to paint Rivet Wars, the commissioner wished the heroes would pop out from the rest of the soldiers. We decided to go with geek references, hence this abomination looking like an AT-ST from the empire mixed with poor R2D2.

Board Game: Rivet Wars: Eastern Front

I couldn't tell the scale of the miniature, it's relatively big. Painted with citadel paints.

A lot more pictures on this thread !

The two wyrmlings from Super Dungeon Explore. They were the second set of minis I've painted ever (after doing the Gougers).

From gallery of Jacqland

Primed with golden gesso, painted with Army Painter colours and washes. The blue wyrmling also had a wash of Secret Weapon Amethyst. Any advice or comments are appreciated

I tried to make the Red's chin look like it was catching some glow from the tail, but it looks more like a mistake then intended. I'm really happy with the way the Red's base turned out, Blue's eyes, and overall the effect I got from highlighting (though Blue's highest highlights are maybe too severe, they still look nice on the table).
