Essen SPIEL 2014 no shipping math trade
- Ben P.(cuazzel)Germany
Internationale Spieltage SPIEL'14 (16.10.2014 - 19.10.2014) in Essen!
If you are new to math trading, I suggest to start with the BGG Wiki pages for Math Trades and OLWLG. For German users there is An introduction to Math Trades in German. If you have any questions, please post them in the Essen SPIEL 2014 no shipping math trade discussion thread.
By adding an item to this list you agree to the following rules, so read them carefully and completely:
0. Stay informed
0a) Please use the Essen SPIEL 2014 no shipping math trade discussion thread for all of your questions, suggestions, comments and chit-chat. To keep this trade list free from clutter, please do not post in the comment section of this GeekList.
0b) Please subscribe to the Essen SPIEL 2014 no shipping math trade announcement thread for all the updates, reminders, announcements and other important information. To keep the announcement thread free from useless information and subscription triggers, please do not post there.
1. Times and dates
1a) The trade list will be open to add and edit items until Sunday, 28.09.2014, 20:00 h CEST.
1b) The want lists have to be created and submitted via OLWLG until Monday, 06.10.2014, 20:00 h CEST.
1c) After the results have been released, everyone will have 24 hours to check the results for errors. Technical errors or mistakes made by the organizer may cause a rerun of the trade (in which case a new 24 hour period for checking the revised results will begin). Mistakes made by users while creating their want lists do not warrant a rerun of the trade and thus can not be corrected once the trade is resolved. By adding an item to one of your want lists you agree to accept it in exchange for your item. Check your want lists and all of the item descriptions thoroughly before finally submitting your want lists!
2. Valid offers
2a) This trade shall be primarily about board games. Other items are allowed as long as they are legal and do not infringe any rules or regulations.
2b) Money offers are allowed. If you trade for money offers, please donate 3% of your received money to BGG. Money arbitrage (i.e. trading money for items containing more money) is prohibited.
2c) Game bundles, "sweeteners", and "Pick x out of Y" offers are allowed as long as the item description is unambiguous. In particular, an offer must not depend on third parties or unforeseeable circumstances in any way.
2d) The trade is limited to 40 trade list items per user. Additional items created by using the OLWLG's copies function do not count towards the item limit. Keep in mind that you need to carry all your traded games and get them to Essen in the first place.
3. Item descriptions
3a) Each item must contain the following information:
(Version / Year Published):
Attendance at SPIEL'14: (e.g.: Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun)
Please make sure to select the image corresponding to the offered version of your game and provide a detailed description of your game's condition.
3b) Each offered item has to be checked for completeness unless it's still in its original shrink wrap. Keep in mind that the condition 'in original shrink wrap' does not necessarily include 'complete'.
3c) Comments on an item are not considered part of that item's description since they can be added and altered after the trade list has been locked and thus may not appear in the OLWLG. If you add new information about your offer in a comment, please include this information in your item description, too. Make sure that all information regarding your offer is given in the item description before the trade list is locked (see paragraph 1a for the deadline).
3d) If you have questions about an item, use the comment function to post a comment on the respective item. If possible, please do this in time for the item's owner to be able to reply before the trade list is closed (see paragraph 1a for the deadline).
3e) If you are not able to deliver an item as it is advertised in the item description after the trade list has been locked, you have to withdraw that item from the trade (i.e. submit an empty want list for it).
4. Editing and deleting items
4a) Be careful about making major changes to an item description. Someone may already have added the item to his/her want lists and not notice that the item description has changed. If you need to make major changes to an item description, please create a new item and delete the original one.
4b) Deleting redundant/incorrect/replaced/obsolete items is okay and encouraged as long as the trade list is open for offering items (see paragraph 1a for the deadline). In fact, I will delete these items myself if I notice them.
4b) Please do not delete items from the trade list after the trade list has been closed (see paragraph 1a for the deadline) since it will affect the numbering of all of the following items and cause confusion and annoyance. If you change your mind about trading a game after the trade list has been closed, just submit an empty want list for the item.
5a) Using the OLWLG is mandatory for this trade.
5b) For items that do not have their own BGG entry, generic items like Outside the Scope of BGG or Miscellaneous Game Accessory have to be used. This may also be suitable for game bundles and 'Pick x out of Y' offers.
5c) Please include an altname tag in the item description of generic items like Outside the Scope of BGG or Miscellaneous Game Accessory. Otherwise they will not be properly displayed by the OLWLG.
5d) If you offer several games in one item, it is recommended to include them via GeekLink (Insert Geek Link -> Board Game) for OLWLG to recognize them as additional offers. Do not use such a link to a game that is not entirely part of your offer.
5e) OLWLG will not be up to date with the original trade list all the time. The synchronization has to be triggered manually by the math trade organizer from time to time. You can set OLWLG to get notified of each synchronization event via GeekMail.
6. Want lists
6a) All want lists have to be created and submitted ("Submit Your Lists Here!" -> "Submit My Wants") via OLWLG.
6b) Want lists may be edited and re-sumbitted any number of times before the deadline (see paragraph 1b). After editing your want lists and saving the changes you have to re-submit them ("Submit Your Lists Here!" -> "Submit My Wants") to become effective.
6c) Make sure to re-check the descriptions of the items on your want lists after the trade list has been locked. Items you added to your want lists before the deadline may have changed since then.
6d) Mistakes you make while creating your want lists do not warrant a rerun of the trade and thus can not be corrected once the trade is resolved. By adding an item to one of your want lists you agree to accept it in exchange for your item. Check your want lists and all of the item descriptions thoroughly before finally submitting your want lists! (Yes, this is so important that it is listed twice in these rules.)
6e) If you are not sure about how to properly implement duplicate protection (or anything else for that matter), please ask for help in the discussion thread. Do not just hope that it works the way you think it does. Because if it doesn't, there will be no way to correct it once the trade is resolved (see paragraph 6d).
6f) All want lists will be made public after the trade has been resolved.
7. Meeting in Essen
7a) All participants are responsible for being able to collect the items they put on their want lists at SPIEL 2014, i.e. if you are going to be at the convention on Saturday and Sunday, don't wish for items whose owner will only be there on Friday because you will not get your games.
7b) To reduce the number of individual meetings at the convention, we will have a group meeting once per day and encourage everyone to do the trading there and then if possible. Time and location of those meetings are still to be determined, please keep an eye on the discussion thread or announcement thread for this.
7c) If anything prevents you from getting your items to SPIEL 2014 on the days you stated in your item descriptions and thus you are not able to hand them over to their recipient(s), you have to ship your items at your own costs and pay the shipping costs for those items you wish to receive from other participants and were not able to collect.
8a) The trade will be resolved using TradeMaximizer 1.3a with official names and the following options: allow-dummies linear-priorities require-colons require-usernames
8b) The BGG Trade Manager shall be used for the trade transactions.
8c) Items that do not comply with the above rules may be suspended from the trade and will be deleted or treated as items with empty want lists. Users who don't follow the rules may also be suspended from the trade. The decisions made by the trade organizer are final in those cases.
Thank you for reading the rules and happy trading!
Remember to use the Essen SPIEL 2014 no shipping math trade discussion thread for all of your questions, suggestions, comments and chit-chat.
