Greetings.

As wonderful as the BGG Wargame Chain of Generosity & Wargamers Paying It Forward threads are, transatlantic shipping can be prohibitive for many. The purpose of this thread is to give those living in Europe a slightly easier way to get involved in the generosity. Please continue to participate in the other threads, they are brilliant, lets make this one brilliant too.

Here's how the chain works:

Step 1: The chain is seeded with a game (or games). Entrants declare themselves 'in' on the comments. After a specified time (a week is good), a winner is rendomly drawn from those who declared themselves in.

Step 2: The winner will add a game or games to the list as the next item, preferably within 48 hours of being decalred the winner of the previous item. Once again entrants declare themselves 'in' and after a specified period a winner is drawn randomly.

Step 3: The new winner repeats step 2.

Thing to remember:

heart Declare in the comments of the item you want to win that you are 'in'!

heart If you win an item, you must post a game of your own to give away in the same fashion. If you are not willing to do so, please don't play!

heart Although you are not required to offer more than one game or a choice of games, if your listnig is not gaining much interest you may want to add further items to keep the chain going.

heart This is an international list. Please clearly state your shipping conditions in the listing, otherwise you agree to post internationally and cover the cost.

heart Europe means the continent, not just the EU. Keep this in mind when thinking about postage costs.

heart This is a wargame list so make sure you can offer an item that is a wargame, or of wargamer-interest.

heart The main thing is to be generous and enjoy giving away good games to good homes.
So with that in mind, lets get going...

Lets start with BGG's number 1 ranked wargame, boardgame and strategy game. A game that has been and will continue to be the subject of countless "what is a wargame" discussions.

It is a used copy, punched & played, that I recently acquired in a trade. It is the deluxe edition with mounted board and nice counters. I willpost it anywhere within Europe.

I will also include History of the Roman Empire, which is unpuched and unplayed but displaying some shelf wear.

The draw will be next Sunday afternoon so declare yourself In before then. I'll update this post with a 24 hour warning.

Edit: What would it take to get more people involved? More stuff?
Ok then.

Along with the items above I'll also chuck in Jena 20 (the C3i version) and Special Ops Issue #3 which includes the game A Victory Complete.

UPDATE 30/08/14 - Penultimate day reminder: I'll be picking the winner for this some time tomorrow afternoon/evening (depending entirely on when I have the time!)

UPDATE 27/08/14 - Extra games added, making this now a "pick two from four" listing.

Pick any two games from the following (state in your post if you wish, or we can deal with the choice once the winner is selected).

The Great Battles of Alexander: Deluxe Edition

This is the deluxe fourth edition, unpunched, unplayed and in excellent condition.

Additionally, into the mix also goes:

History of the Roman Empire

Which is of course the copy from James. It's a chain, after all! As it goes, I already have a copy of this very good game, so this copy is still looking for a good home. Haven't received this one yet of course, but as per James' description it is "unpunched and unplayed but displaying some shelf wear."

Or, if you prefer things more modern and heavily armoured...

Stalin's War

GMT, first edition. Mint condition. Unplayed, unpunched. Components still in original shrink.

And still, another option, also armoured:

Breakthrough: Cambrai

MMP first edition. Excellent condition, unpunched.

Rules of the draw are exactly the same as per the introduction at the top of this Geeklist. Free shipping to addresses in Europe. I will make the draw on the afternoon/evening of Sunday 31st and will post an update as a reminder on the preceding day. Those interesting in participating, get in on the action before Sunday!

RESULT:

Drawn (again, from an actual hat, let's make this a tradition shall we?) - the winner is:

Edited: 4 Sep - to add an extra game option and to allow for up to 2 games to be chosen, for those who might only want to pick one game and then offer up a single game themselves.

Edited 9 Sep - with winner details.

Keeping up the practice of giving people a few choices, I'll also offer a pick of 1-2 games from the following. You can either post a comment as to which games you would want or we can deal with that once the winner is selected. Although I was fortunate to win the last chain, and it was my on my birthday, no cake is included in this deal - it's all been eaten.

Rules of the draw are exactly the same as per the introduction at the top of this Geeklist. Free shipping to addresses in Europe. I will make the draw on the afternoon/evening of Sunday 7th September and will post an update as a reminder on the preceding day. Those interesting in participating, get in on the action before Sunday!

A Frozen Hell

This is unpunched and unplayed. Box lid is a bit indented from storage but otherwise in excellent condition.

Lost Victory: Manstein At Kharkov, Winter 1943

This is unpunched and unplayed. Rules have been read but otherwise in excellent condition.

Dixie: Bull Run

Complete game. Hardly played and in excellent condition.

This a two for one, i.e. counts as one item
Fifth Corps & Wilson's Creek: The West's First Fight, August 10, 1861

&

Fifth Corps comes with S&T magazine #82. Wilson's Creek is from S&T#80 but it is just the game, no magazine included. Both games are unpunched and in very good condition.

Manoeuvre

This is unpunched and unplayed and in excellent condition. Some cards decks still in original wrapping.

If anyone wants to see photos of these then let me know and I'll see what I can do.

RESULT:

And the lucky winner drawn, yes from a hat, is:

OK so feel free to choose one or two items from those offered. All are mint unplayed.

1. First up is a mint, ziploc copy of The Gamer's Napoleonic Brigade System Austerlitz. All components unused - its just in a ziploc rather than boxed.

2. A mint copy of Avalanche's Avalanche: The Invasion of Italy

3. A mint copy of Centurion Games' Crisis in the Ukraine which sounds topical but is a WW2 game.

4. Next is a mint copy of ATO's Chennault's First Fight in one of their plastic boxes.

5. And, finally, for now is a mint copy of ATO's North Wind Rain again, in a plastic box.

Hopefully there's something of interest here. My preference is 20th Century but, if there's no interest in this selection I'm sure I can find some others!

OK here's a sixth choice to up the pre-20th Century quotient. You can choose these three old, mint Strategy & Tactics magazines (games unpunched) as one selection - Men At Arms; Rio Grande: The Battle of Valverde; and, Baton Rouge: Street Fighting in the Louisiana Capital, August 5, 1862. Let's face it - I'm never going to play these puppies. All in good condition with a little shelfware on Men at Arm's cover.

A final, late choice. 3W's Aces High. This is the boxed edition. Mint as with all of my other offers.

Draw will take place next Friday as this will give me a chance to get this in the post to the winner on Saturday as I'll be away for a while from the Sunday. Good luck to everyone.

Edit: 8th September to add a sixth choice.
Edit: 11th September. 24 hour warning!!!! I'll be choosing a winner on Friday night as per my note above. Comment if you want a chance to win. And a final choice if it encourages anyone else to take the plunge!
Edit: 12th September - drawing the winner (unfortunately not out of a hat as I don't own one):

Edit: Okay then I will do the draw next Sunday and post the game when I get back.

Well, my turn now! Here's my offer. Played but in very good condition (edit: just checked it and it is in excellent condition, just a couple of scuffs on the sides of the box.)

I have very little with me in Italy (except for lots of PnP stuff), so I am afraid I am only offering this, I hope someone will like it.

I am on holiday from Tuesday until the 28th of this month. Sorry about that. Shall I do the draw next Sunday and post it when I get back, or would people prefer to wait two weeks on this?

Give me some feedback with your 'I'm in' and I will decide.

No takers so far. I can add Soldier Emperor as an alternative. The condition is very good again though the rulebook is heavily annotated.

(Edit 25/9/14: Andrew Taylor gets Gettysburg. Unfortunately I do not get to use my hat. The chain goes on, thanks Andrew, phew!)

European Magazine Wargame Chain

There was a proposal to separate magazine games and other smaller items from the main Wargames, so to kick that off i'll offer up this. Magazine games can be a bit hit and miss so I will offer a choice (others don't have to). Pick one of these three magazine games and as per the main chain I'll draw names from a hat next Thursday (2nd October).

Game is punched but not played and in v. good condition.

Game is unpunched and unplayed and in v. good condition.

These are for the magazine and the game. As a sweetener to kick this off I'll add this as well as I have 2 copies.

Some oldies but goodies from the old Avalon Hill stable

Pick one of these :

Choice One:

Rise and Decline of the Third Reich

This is the third edition with 4th edition rule set. Box shows a bit of wear but components are all in good condition and is a great playing copy.

Or

Choice Two:

Devil's Den

Avalon Hill edition of this Gettysburg game. This is in played with condition. Map is clean and in good condition as are the rules. Counters are again in good condition although there are two missing. There are plenty of blanks that can be pressed into service for those missing counters. As said a good playing copy of this classic ACW title.

And

Little Round Top: The South's Best Chance at Gettysburg

Avalon Hill's small box game on Little Round Top. Game is in played with condition but, all is present and correct. An excellent playing copy of this title.

Ok not a lot of love for the old Avalon Hill games so far. I will add something slightly more recent to see if there are any takers!

Choice three

Twilight Struggle

Twilight Struggle. GMT Games. This is the standard second edition 2006 with the card map not the delux edition. All components present and correct and in excellent condition.

Choice four:

Warriors of God

Warriors of God. Punched and in played with condition. All present and correct.

MAIN WARGAME CHAIN SUPPLEMENT

CLOSED

So, my friends,
No interest in my offer in the last wargame chain link and it has stalled.
I have a proposal:

Sign in and I'll pick a winner on monday the 17th!
Then I'll go through his wish list and send him a game of my choice....
....medium price!

This does not include/concern the game in the title, I needed it just for the Santa theme.

This will be worked out this way ONLY if James agree!!!

I think it could be a fair way to make the chain restart.

So, come on and sign in!

Deadline MONDAY the 17th!!!

Cheers all

EDIT:
Sorry for the delay, guys. Pretty busy.
....a bit more of SUSPANCE!!!

So you are eight. You're numbered in order from the first to the last.
I roll 1d8.....
