Few characters on the Geek could ever be described as more colourful than GROGnads! He's been here forever with his indecypherable wit and colourful humour... an essential part of the BGG experience.

He's in your lists, your game articles, your forum threads. By the time this list is done, GROGnads will have topped 2000 list comments and 3000 forum replies. He's EVERYWEHRE.

And I have secured his kind permission to lampoon him. devil

Though I note something similar was done once before, I feel that in honour of the great MAN, his actual contributions, and the colour he adds, we should make "TALK like GROGnads" an annual event. My hat's off to GROGnads for the sheer effort that goes into his posts. This list reveals his hidden secrets to help you get started, and gives you a forum to practise... and gain a new respect!

Step 1: Start with a perfectly ordinary phrase, but preferably one with some strong opinion...
------------------------------------------------------
Although devotees praise this to no end, I've found other games more appealing and they are able to be completed in just a single sitting.

Step 2 option A: Go to http://babelfish.altavista.com/ and translate your paragraph to another language and back again. Choose a European language like Italian if you already write a little obscurely, or I like Korean or Simplified Chinese for the most immediately useable results...

------------------------------------------------------
Although devoting commendation this to does not have the terminal, I discovered other competition more appeals and they to be able to complete am only holding a meeting.
------------------------------------------------------

(Note: If you translate to a language with a different alphabet you may only see squares in the results, but you can still copy and paste it back into the translate box and translate it back to English. Except Russian and German don't work for me.)

Step 2 option B: For tricky phrases, instead of babelfish use a thesaurus. Pick at least two or three pivotal words in each sentence. Go to http://thesaurus.reference.com/ and find words which mean almost the same thing...

------------------------------------------------------
Notwithstanding devotees ballyhoo this in perpetuity, I've found divergent games more ambrosial and those are able to be accomplished in just a single affair.

Step 3: So far this is looking very dry. A couple of quick touchups...

+ If you used Babel, you may have to bring it slightly back toward English
+ Put all the gender non-specific pronouns in a box (eg "these", "those", "they", "them", "which", "who") and whenever you used one, swap another one at random
+ Put quotes around two or three of the words from the thesaurus
+ add CAPitals

------------------------------------------------------
Although "devoting" commendation to THOSE does not have the 'termination', I discovered other competition MORE appeals. And these are able to COMPLETE in only holding one meeting.

Step 4: Finally, it just wouldn't be GROGnads without the colour and emoticons. Whack a different emoticon on the beginning and end, bold or italic one word in five, color and optionally bold one word in seven. If they have natural colors of their own then give them those...

So whether you use Babelfish, a Thesaurus, or just wing it, join in the fun and celebration. Pick a game, and make your list comment a GROGnads comment.

If YOU've had a 'rehearsal' here, consider you should accomplish your NEXT forum 'delivery' a GROGnads "idiom" too!

HERE is what this "fellow" had to say about ONE of HIS top-rated "GAMES"!laugh

He owns the game but also has it for trade. Hilarious. Consider this my vote for Geek of the Week.

-----------------
GREAT game and especially challenging when you use a "Chess Clock" for competitive play. You can even play it on the sidewalk using CHALK! Why, you could play it on the BEACH using just your Toe! or any other protruding appendage...HEY! not THAT 'one'!

(Trade Condition) Excellent, the pencil was only sharpened enough to play for a few times and the paper is completely BLANK on the reverse side AND it's a FULL sheet size too! Anyone else give a sheet to go with it?
