Just like last month I dropped in for a few minutes to pick some stuff up, drop some stuff off, and that gives me the excuse I need to start the list for this month.

You can find more information about WABA here.
And the metalist of WABA games played can be found here.

as part of List of Shame project.

We used the draft rules with 3 cards at a time.

I was completely slaughtered. Didn't even knockout any of Eric's krosmasters.

Next up was a good old betrayal.

Have spoiler tagged a brief description JIC if someone doesn't like seeing what can happen

Spoiler (click to reveal)
We ended up with getting bombs attached to us. Two players were quickly killed as they tried to remove the bombs. I finally got my bomb off and proceeded to stab the betrayer with my spear

Lots of dirt was found. We had one clear winner who beat us all by over 20 points!!!

So with the chess clock counting down, we played a quick game.

I was taught how to play this.

We played TWO games of this. We ended up winning one each.

The rules for this game need a bit more description on the moving rules though. It can be rather confusing

Last up was this one as a three player game.

I had never played it before, so was good to tick it off the list. I could definitely see the signs of Pandemic all over it from the designer.

The game was pretty shaky all the way through with the landing pad being submerged at the start of the game.

We managed to get three artifacts before the island sank like a stone. We were one turn from winning when the final two tiles slid beneath the waves

I'd had this for a while with the shrink wrap still on and had forgotten how to play. It's got some similar mechanics to the board version, but others completely different, and also a good memory game, since you have to remember whether you've set aside the right colours to fulfil your tickets.

Played 3 players

Was taught this one.
Five players for this one.

Amusing and quick train robbing game where you are one of the bandits trying to rob a train, but it's not a gang, you're each trying to rob it. The mechanic is a little Dominion like in that if you get shot your potential hand can get full of useless bullet cards. And a bit like Robo Rally in that you have to plan your actions first, and then they all happen. Though you can see what others are doing (if you're not in a tunnel). Didn't win, but didn't get shot as much as some - partly because my character's special ability was 'if there is a choice of targets, don't shoot her'.

Alas, I didn't make the meeting, due to a family visit from Canberra. But since the visit included some board game playing, I've added the titles here - WABA's meeting extended in spirit from Mt Claremont to Kallaroo!
Kahuna is one of my favourite two-person games. I thought I understood how to play it fairly well, and got off to a good start, at the end of the first round leading my brother by 5 kahunas to 2. When we were reading the rules (his first play) I noted that you could lose prematurely by having no bridges at the end of round 1 or round 2. Humph, I commented, no-one could ever be in this position. Almost spoke to soon. At the end of the second round I had one bridge. No coming back from this position. I was thoroughly thrashed. I blame the house renovations - has been a tiring week. But maybe my brother just understands how to play this game a lot better than I do. (Note to self: Do not bring out Kahuna next visit from Canberra.)

My brother bought this with him, and the four of us (my wife and I, and my brother and his wife) played a couple of games of this. Certainly easy to learn and quick to play. And the board looks great, and the paths are fun to trace. My wife won the first game, and I the second (beginner's luck, though I do recall seeing Tsuro played at a WABA meeting).
My wife asked me afterwards if I would consider buying it. We both agreed that we enjoyed playing, but that perhaps there was too much luck - we are both fairly competitive. But having a game available for 8 players is attractive. I've checked it out, and can find it for $36 plus postage. Hm. I was thinking that $30 and no postage would be a buy - so this is a perhapser.

The perfect way to end the games playing. The four of us struggled to stow our cargo. Everyone had a spill, and the game went to the last card, when my wife disposed of her last piece of cargo. Definitely not a game to play if you have a case of shakes! And near the end we all stood up, so that we couldn't accidentally knock the table, and so disrupt the cargo.
I really enjoy this game, but I can only play it once in a session - I get too tense to play it a second time. Blockhead on steroids!

Warren started teaching me this and we were subsequently joined by Peter and Adrian, also new players, in a 2v2 game of the first battle, the Battle of Agincourt. Warren and Peter took the French, and Adrian and I took the English. Warren was such a good teacher that the English won 4-0. We then swapped sides and after surviving several rolls that could have won it for the English, the French side narrowly won 4-3.

Warren mentioned that this game uses a similar system to Richard Borg's Command and Colors and Memoir '44. I enjoyed this game and would be happy to play it again.

Taught Mark and Jasons (there were two of them) one of my favourite games.

In this version there's a few tiny change the biggest for me is the one dollar plants. That definitely speed up the game lots and limit the blocking and waiting game I think. Will have to play it with my normal group to be sure.

The plastic money is really quite poor quality, the one shame in this otherwise delightful game.

The first one was weird with both the 4th and 5th rounds ending immediately because the first two cards were the same hazard :o
