Selwin taught Mark and I this light game involving pushing your luck in all creating a shared deck/dungeon that someone will eventually have to try defeat, each card having a monster and the players collectively having some equipment. Each turn, the choice essentialy comes down to one of looking at a card and adding it to the dungeon, looking at a card and removing it along with one piece of equipment, or passing and dropping out of the round. Whoever is left must journey into the dungeon with whatever equipment is left, with the first to 2 successful dungeon runs the winner (or being the last one standing I guess, with two unsuccessful runs killing a player).

This was a very light bluffing game, with each choice effectively coming down to calling the difficulty (seeing the card and adding it to the dungeon, giving some info as to what it is), raising (taking one equipment and a card out, making the eventual dungeon run more difficult) or folding, with the bluffing able in each choice. It plays in about 10 minutes and it serves as a decent filler.

Mark won with 2 successful runs over Selwin and I each with 1 successful run. Mark and I each had 1 failed run.

It was really nice to be able to set up a game and jump straight into it with players who all (basically) knew how to play. Wez ended up with the win on 71, way in front of us all, David on 52, Mark 51, me 50, Mike 41 and Jess 34.

We sat down to learn this card game for the first time. Each player is a character on a lifeboat, with a randomly dealt other character that they love and hate (which could be themselves or even the same character). Players seek to get the most points by the time the game ends by staying alive, having the person they love stay alive, having the person they hate die and having particular possessions, with manipulating turn order for turns and actions, taking possessions and fighting combining with non-binding deals to create this game.

Learning for the first time combined with a very unusual draw of each character’s lover and hater (many same characters) gave a strange play experience. David won in the end over (not in order) Wez, me, Liz (?) Leah, Jess and Mark. For me, there was enough there to give it another go to see if having a different lover and hater along with understanding the rules gives a better understanding of this game.

Wez, Liz (?) Leah, Jess, Mark and I refrshed rules and did our best with this. I clearly was not on the same page as everyone else for the majority of this game, and thankfully we managed a reasoanble score (I think) despite my moves.

Jess ended the game by killing Mark and I from Tokyo, my game notable by only having 2 points while Mark reached a high of about 15 (until brought back by a card) with Jess on about 12ish.

My regular X-Wing league had a location change this week that happened to coincide with this meet so that's fair game for this list, right?

I played 2 simultaneous games as practice for the regional tournament that is happening Saturday. Lost both games, one close and the other not so close but both to lists that I don't think I'm very well matched for so not too concerned.

Was a lot of fun running between two tables but not something I'd want to try too often.

I played this with Amy and Adrian, which was the second time playing for both of them.

I was ahead and managed to end the game in my favour just before Amy's merchants would have run away with it.

To finish off Selwyn, Adrian, Amy, Leah and myself played this short game of trying to keep your monsters alive while possibly stealing some treasure. I did well in the last round but it wasn't enough to take the lead. Someone just beat Adrian for first place, but I can't remember who it was!
