My brother and sister-in-law had been visiting me for the past two weeks and as normal after being a tour guide for two weeks, I'm exhausted. So I figured it was time for a solo con! My schedule of the next few days will be a bit crazy still, but when I get a chance to play I will play. I'm hoping to play some new-to-me games while throwing in some games I've already played.

Over on Twitter I (@jacobjcoon) am trying to highlight solo gaming by getting as many people as possible to post about a solo game they play between today (Wed 6/15) and Saturday (6/18). I'm hoping to get a bunch of people tweeting about their solo play. If you are on Twitter please join in. Either tag me at the end of your tweet or use the tag #Solocon.

On here, I would love to do a similar thing too, so I have left public additions open for anyone to add in an item of a game they play. I know we do that on the SGOYT list, but I thought this might be a fun thing to do.

Will you join me?

When I get back from the airport around 1 CEST I will be starting with the 4th Neuroshima Hex Puzzle.

I got started a bit later than I wanted, but I knocked out the 4th puzzle of this game pretty easily. I'll probably play a few puzzles over the next few days since they are a quick play.

I was interested in this game after watching Ricky Royal play it. I picked it up at UK Games Expo and am now going to play it for the first time.

At first I thought the game was going to be pretty easy...it wasn't. I only made it to the 3rd out of 5 levels. It was a fun game, but I got frustrated with the lack of hiring guys in my hand or available for purchase. That stalled me out completely.

Now for a game I've played before. Granted I've only played the intro and the full game once a piece, I at least know the rules.

I took a break from the SoloCon and headed to my weekly game night, that I host. I almost forgot that it was today. Oops.

We played Coup three times and Castles of Mad King Ludwig. I suck at Coup, but I really enjoy it. I played it for the first time a few weeks ago and it is really good! Castles is still a solid game too!

I only got one game in today due to being more exhausted than I thought I would be. I got destroyed in Lewis & Clark, so I hope to play this again tomorrow. Tomorrow will also be a light solo day with Saturday being chock full of games.

After doing some work, i sat down for another game of Lewis & Clark, determined to get my first solo win.

At first Mackenzie and I were neck and neck, but instead of moving one turn I decided to build up some resources for a bigger move the following turn. I moved a total of 13 spaces on the river to approach the mountains and then Mackenzie started moving ahead. After slogging through the first set of mountains I put a huge move in and pulled within a space of Mackenzie at the end of the second mountains. He was one turn from finishing when I moved 7 steps to pull way past the Fort and most of the way to Oregon.

I won!

I had played Flip City a couple times a few weeks ago and I wanted an easy to play game to get me to the time I have to leave, so I busted out Flip City and gave it another go.

I haven't lost Flip City yet and this time was no different, although it was closer than normal. One more reshuffle and I would have lost.

This game is solid, it's not the best solo game ever, but it fits the niche of a quick to play, very portable solo game. I really hope some more buildings will come out in an expansion at some point though.

I finally got my copy of this game brought to me by my brother when he game to visit. I really don't want to read the rules, so I am going to go watch Ricky's video so I have a clue what is happening and hopefully tomorrow I will be able to only need to reference the rules a bit to get started.

My much longer day of gaming turned into two long games trying to learn the rules of this game. Tomorrow I need to play shorter games.

In the first game, I played it according to the Rahdo rules, then i watched his corrections. Oops!

In my second game I won with 4 blights at the monastery. That was a close one, but a victory is a victory. The next time I play this game I will add in the quests from the first expansion, for sure!

As the last game of my solo con I took out Card City before church and got a pretty bad score. I tweeted about it and Alban started a conversation with me. I realized that I was playing the game wrong after a second attempt at the game (because Alban was nice enough to kindly inform me) so I took it out for a 3rd spin and built a Town!

The game is the 1st in the trilogy (Card City, Town Center, Small City) and by far the lightest. It consists almost exclusively of cards and while you only draw three cards and pick two (putting the 3rd at the bottom of the pile again, that's the rule I messed up) to put in your city it involves way more thought than you would think. Certain buildings cannot be placed next to each other including the money generating commercial and points generating residential. The trick is getting those buildings surrounded by residential (for commercial) and leisure (residential) so you can expand them and bring two residential/commercial districts together which gives you more points/money.

I am really liking this game and the cool thing is, it helps you prepare to play Town Center, which I am assuming helps you prepare to play Small City. I like it!
