I'm merely keeping the contest going until Cerith returns.

Newish Feature:

One random thumber will receive a bonus of 5bag!

Contest Rules:

1) Add the game of the miniature(s) you painted as an item to the list. You may submit images of a single miniature or a group at your discretion.

2) The image you submit must have been uploaded during July 2015. Gallery images are okay but submitted images are preferred. As they've gone through the rigorous geek mod process it means at least someone has checked the submission conforms to BGG guidelines and it's also easier to check the submission date. The contest will end on 31 August 2015.

3) Please use the format [imageid=xxxxxmedium] where xxxxx is the id of the picture. Medium should be sufficient please do not use large.

4) You are the artist. Please do not submit miniatures painted by someone else.

5) One entry per person. You may, however, use either:

a. up to two 'normal' pictures of your entry, usually, the front and back of the miniature(s); OR
b. one image of a montage/collage of your entry.

6) The winner will be the picture with the most thumbs. You can thumb as many entries as you like.

7) If you can please note the make of the mini, scale and what paints you used in your entry.

In the interests of maintaining a level playing field for all entrants any entry that does not conform to the above rules will be removed. The contestant will be notified and is welcome to submit an entry that meets the above criteria.

Prizes:

I'm reliant on tips to offer prizes. Any tips received will awarded as follows:

1st place: 35%
2nd place: 25%
3rd place: 15%
Encouragement Awards 25%

Note I have altered this at my discretion - this may change when Cerith retakes the reigns.

Encouragement awards will be given to non-placing worthy entries with a bias to new participants. New painters are particularly welcome to enter and please do use the comment section for each miniature to discuss painting techniques, materials, share tutorial videos & etc.

Judging at the end of the month and winners will appear in the next months’ list.

1st place will now also receive an exclusive microbadge! Microbadge: Golden Turtleback Painted Miniature Monthly Contest winner

Please give this geeklist a thumb to help get it to the front page. The more contestants the better!

And don't forget to click on the images you like and give the actual images thumbs up as well!

It might not look it (but hopefully it does) I used around nine or ten different shades of red in painting these guys - all Vallejo as well as trialling the new Games Workshop Ltd. glaze 'Bloodletter' on the robes. I used the old Games Workshop Ltd. red ink on the helmet and progressively lightened the red highlights with Vallejo Game Colour elfish flesh.

Warming up for Kingdom Death finally coming after much waiting, here's the Twilight Knight, an iconic KD figure, in its Wrath of Kings incarnation.

The Twilight Knight has been the subject of various crossovers in various games. (By the way I am looking for the Super Dungeon Explore one !).

The model is 32mm, painted with Citadel Paints.

The one on the right was painted for me (there's nothing like cutting up and rebasing promos). I bought a handful of Vallejo game color for this project, to add to the "usual mix"(first time with corks too(not sold on them yet)).

Real-life has kept me away for ages but I've finally managed to get my paint on. I'm a bit rusty but it's coming back to me.

Board Game: Last Night on Earth: Timber Peak

I've used a combination of paint brands here. Mostly Vallejo and Army Painter. I've also invested in a light tent for better photography, (just in time for my camera charger to go missing :-/. The above is shot on my iPhone so I'd say the tent has worked well).

Elementals from Descent 2.0
From gallery of Tatsu

I stared by painting the base of the figures in blue and then washed with two different washes - the backend "air" side with a lighter blue/blue-green and the front end water side with darker blue. I dry brushed each side with a pair of different shades of blue (light on the back and darker on the front). I ended up feeling like the air portion wasn't quite different enough, so I broke out the pure white and gave the backside a nice quick light dry brush. Next up I based the middle section in tan and then hit hit with one layer of a very light brown. My biggest regret here was that I didn't just base the whole top of the figure in brown as it would have made getting the yellow down on the top MUCH easier.
I started laying down yellow on the top of the figure. The goal being to lay down what would be the base "hot" portion of the fire element. A lot of the painted elementals out there have the fire backwards (reds and oranges at the base and lighter colors and yellows on top) - which looks fine, but I wanted to get the fire "right". Of course, since I primed in black, I had to lay down about 5 layers of yellow and another couple of yellow washes to get the color as bright as I wanted.
Once the yellow was satisfactory, I started painting in the rock cracks. This was essentially free form, though I did my best to try and follow the natural form of the model. After I dry brushed the flame areas on the back. I did a heavy brushing of orange, followed by a lighter brushing of red, and then a final (light) brushing with the same color I used for the rock cracks (which looks almost black in the end).

I mostly used Citadel paints, except the florescent yellow which was picked up at an art store and the washes which were Secret Weapon Washes.

June/July was great when it came to painting and putting together miniatures. It started with my son who wanted to play Warhammer 40.000. So I got us a starter set. He got the space marines (easy to paint) I got the chaos guys. As I was painting I went up to the attic to get my unfinished Imperial guard army, that I played with once last century. I got the new book for the Imperial guard (Astra Militarum) and started to put the army back together. It was great fun, memories comming back, and figuring where it all fit. Someting did not fit. The close combat unit was no longer an option and neither the boltgun unit, so I used some as seargants and others was converted into other units. I needed more flamers and found the spare parts I needed in my bitz box. The heavy weapons were now on round bases so I went to my shed and sawed bases from some unused wooden plates. In the end I didn´t have a singel unused miniature. It fitted perfectly.

As for painting I didn´t cared much for detail. I remembered from my own military period thet everything was olive green, and so I painted everything olive green. It was a quick to paint them this way so I finished 20 men a day. I did the whole army in about a week.

Here is the model to represent my project. A veteran seargant with powersword and bolter. It is one of my original convertion, and he got his equipment from some old space marines. The head is from Warhammer fantasy.

Not sure of the scale of these guys would be but they are similar in height to Reaper 28mm "heroic" miniatures. I used Reaper MSP paints and Army Painter primer.
